Overview - chalet description - The Locarno description

The Locarno (sleeps 6) - 1550m. Situated in the same building as our other "Italians", The Locarno offers great accommodation, perfect for families or small groups of friends looking for a stress-free, easy-access skiing getaway. If there are more than 6 of you, we will happily combine other apartments in the building so even more of you can enjoy what these great properties have to offer.

Positioned on the second floor, The Locarno has two twins, one double and two shower-rooms.  The combined living/dining room has a modern contemporary feel with large comfortable sofas in which to collapse after a hard day on the slopes.  Being on the second floor, the wonderful balcony leading from the living room offers even better views across the village towards the valley below.

Skiing from The Locarno simply could not be easier.  Literally a few steps and a 20 second ski to the main Medran lift and you are on your way to accessing Verbier's huge 4-Valley ski circuit. Accessibility to the village itself is just as easy... Literally a matter of minutes walk away, you can enjoy all the shops, bars, restaurants and clubs this hugely-popular Cosomolitan ski resort has to offer.

The Locarno is run by one of our own friendly chalet hosts who lives in a separate apartment in the building.

Did You Know:  Locarno is one of the closest Italian towns to the Swiss border at the Northern tip of the beautiful Lake Maggiore. It hosts the annual Locarno International Film Festival during August in its very own Piazza Grande...

Meals - food and drink in The Locarno

We offer our properties on a flexible catering basis therefore providing our guests with as much choice as possible when choosing a fully-catered, part-catered or self-catered chalet or apartment. Your preferences will be discussed at the time of booking and a tailor-made itinerary will be costed based on your requirements.

Our chalet hosts all enjoy cooking and take pride in what they serve and whilst they are not necessarily qualified chefs, they have good experience of dinner party cooking and many of them will have attended one of the well-regarded cookery schools with whom we work closely to ensure the highest calibre of staff possible.

If choosing the fully catered or part catered option, you will be assured of good home-cooked food prepared and served by our specially selected chalet hosts. We do not offer luxury items or haute cuisine, we serve good wholesome hearty food fit for anyone after a hard day on the slopes. Menus will be varied and may include local dishes as well as the more traditional UK favourites such as roasts, lasagne or casseroles.

Our menus have been formed over many years taking into account previous guests’ likes and recommendations and whilst we believe this plan to offer excellent variety, there will be the odd occasion when a dish might not be well-received. We would ask you therefore that if you have any specific dietary requirements or a yearning for dishes in particular, you enquire before booking your holiday and provide us with as much notice as possible regarding specific diets such as vegetarian, vegan, celiac or non-dairy etc.

We update The Locarno's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

This accommodation only holiday to The Locarno in Verbier, Switzerland departs Tuesday 3rd January 2017, for a 4 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

Established in 1937, posh party town Verbier covers a sunny plateau slap bang in the middle of Switzerland’s 4 valleys – which just happens to be one of Europe’s biggest and best ski areas. The easy-on-the-eye architecture’s a pretty mix of wood and slate, but it’s what you’ll find within some of these walls that’ll blow your socks off… Blending in with dozens of classic chalets and ski hotels, this place has some of the most luxurious lodgings on the planet. Some hotels come with designer suites an...
As well as being famous for its off-piste routes, Verbier’s well groomed slopes are well known as some of the most challenging in the Alps. Although it mainly attracts intermediate, advanced and expert level skiers seeking adventurous off-piste and steeps experience, the 37 local pistes covering 100km provide for all abilities. The resort has three areas specifically for beginners, including the gentle slopes at Les Moulins, which has a children’s area and Les Esserts, with its 120m magic carpet. Those with ...
Many say Verbier’s après is the main reason to visit – it’s certainly some of the best in the world and if you want to increase the odds of bumping into Prince Harry or Leonardo di Caprio on the dance floor, there’s no better place to party. From a good old pint in a lively pub (we love Nelson’s and Pub Mont Fort) to swanky cocktails with the socialites at Cordee de Alps, the nightlife is wonderfully varied. An absolute legend is the Farinet - with a huge sliding roof, a commanding position over the mai...
