A fabulous week at Taiga Lodge Meribel. Sam and Rob are first class hosts who made us feel totally relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb, hot tub luxurious and cinema room enjoyed by all. The slopes were deserted, the sun shone, we skied more than ever before! What more could we want. + more

Overview: chalet description: Taiga Lodge description

Taiga Lodge is a beautiful chalet in Meribel and some would say one of our finest in the Alps. The chalet is positioned in the ‘Dou du Pont' enclave, known locally as ‘The Mayfair of Meribel'.

The timber architecture is classic and refined and each of the rooms has been individually and lavishly themed by our interior designer. A splendid 10-person cinema with suede lined walls and huge squashy sofas provides state of the art entertainment. Several terraces make the most of the sun and there is an outdoor hot tub and sauna for a touch of apres-ski pampering. The town and piste are only a short walk away but for guests' convenience, our chauffeured vehicle service runs to and from the piste daily until 8pm.

The accomodation is spread over 3 floors; on the first floor are two twin bedrooms both with en suite bath and balcony. On the second floor is the living and dining area and a further 2 bedrooms. On the third floor is the master double bedroom built in the eaves and bursting with character.

Meals: Taiga Lodge food & drink

Our Executive Chef is passionate about food and hugely sensitive to the appetite of a hungry skier whilst considering a balanced diet. The new and refined menus are heavy enough to reward mountain exertion yet light and simple enough to leave you grinning not groaning.

All our catered ski holidays include;

  • Continental breakfast with a cooked option on 6 mornings
  • Afternoon tea will be left in the chalet for you to help yourself to freshly made cake or biscuits, bread & jams, selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate
  • Canapés on the first and last evening
  • 3 course evening meal (6 nights) followed by cheese board and coffee
  • A choice of red and white wine is served throughout dinner
We update Taiga Lodge's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"Chalet Taiga, a week of excellent hospitality"

We were extremely well looked after by our chalet hosts Rob and Sam. We were treated to superb breakfasts and dinners. Sam is an excellent pastry chef and we enjoyed fabulous cakes each day for afternoon tea. The chalet was clean and spacious. Our hosts were very friendly but also very professional. The combination of a well appointed chalet and excellent hosts made for a memorable holiday. I have given a five star rating based on the hosts. The chalet is probably 4 star but with Rob and Sam as hosts it is hard to fault.

....Taiga Lodge, and especially our hosts Rob and Sam were absolutely fantastic! The transport, ski hire, lift passes etc. were all seamlessly arranged and we were delivered into the arms of Rob and Sam at Taiga with minimum faff, skis and lift passes awaited us, and our bags were brought up after we'd been shown to our rooms and given a cup of tea and some cake. The chalet itself is great; it's got a hot-tub, it's got a cinema (with sofas!) and most importantly it's got Rob and Sam. Our hosts were absolutely superb in every respect. The food was better than 9 out of 10 restaurants that I've eaten at, and the amount of care that went into every aspect of looking after us was stunning. The driver service was great for coming back from the slopes, real luxury. The only thing I could think of in criticism was that the bed was too firm for my liking. Overall we were very impressed ... and borderline-in-love-with our superlative hosts Rob and Sam (and Buddy)!
