The CGH Résidence les Chalets de Flambeau really hits the mark when it comes to location. The eight apartment buildings are right at the foot of the slopes in the Plan Des Champs area of Val Cenis. Step out your door and green runs, lifts and ski school are all there at your ski tips.
The Résidence nods to its alpine setting, with chalet-style buildings and wooden balconies blending in with the pine trees and mountain peaks around them. Step inside and the main reception building welcomes you with a modern fireplace and large, comfy sofas. The apartments continue this theme with airy, spacious rooms and all you need for your mountain home-from-home.
When it’s time to hang up your ski poles for the day, head to the indoor pool for some lazy laps or a doze in one of the deckchairs lining the edge. Little one’s have their own pool for splash time too. Or add in a spot of friendly rivalry with a game of pool or table football. If you fancy slowing down the pace, the wellness area’s got you covered – from saunas and steam rooms to treating yourself to a massage, you’ll be zen in no time.
It’s easy to whip up meals in your kitchenette and the nearest supermarket’s a snowball’s throw away. Plus, there are bars and restaurants nearby for nights off the cooking. For popping into the villages, just hop on the free bus that runs along the valley. All in all, stays here mean you’ve a fab location, flexibility and fun time off the slopes – that’s you sorted.

Two small villages huddled in the Maurienne valley, Val Cenis is pretty unknown but packs a punch. It’s a dream for beginners and intermediates with access to an area the size of Espace Killy. Topped with spectacular panoramas and buckets of Savoyard charm, it also has good-value accommodation at a fraction of the cost of other French resorts.
