Overview: hotel description: Peppermill Casino (Reno) description

If you want to ski the resorts around North Lake Tahoe then this is a great base and an amazing price. There is a weekend shuttle to some of the resorts but you’ll need car hire and as parking at the hotel is free this is the easiest way to get to and from the resorts. This hotel is amazing, as opulent and fun as a Vegas hotel with a huge array of facilities, including a spa, choice of restaurants, bar and even its own nightclub! There’s loads to do in Reno too – from golf to brilliant shopping, you can even catch an NBA basketball match.

Reno isn’t just a ski holiday – the casinos ensure there is a constant stream of world renowned acts and shows, plus their 24/7 bars and entertainment! We’ve picked a few of the things we loved doing in Reno below.

Outlet shopping
– around Reno there are some great outlet stores selling brand names at ridiculous discounts. Really you need a car or to jump in a cab to get to them but you will be well rewarded – our favourite is the Legends complex (approx $10 in a cab each way) which has (to name a few): Adidas, Banana Republic, Bose, Converse, Designer Fragrance Shop, Gap, Guess, Nike, Sketchers, Tommy Hilfiger and Vans, Forever 21, Michael Kors, Volcom

Basketball
– the NBA season is during the winter so there are basketball games at home around once a week. If you’re in town then getting tickets is pretty easy and the stadium is a short cab ride from the hotel (approx $15-$20 each way).

Golf
– there are over 40 courses within an hours drive of Reno and the majority are open through the winter season! Lakeridge Golf Course is the closest – about 10 minutes – and would probably be about $10 by cab. Red Hawk Golf Club, Wolf Run Golf Club, Arrowcreek Country Club, Wildcreek Golf Course and Somersett Country Club are other local courses that stay open most of the winter. Green fees will range from $30-$60 in the wintertime

Bowling
– those familiar with the film King Pin will (probably) know that the final is set in the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, it’s a short drive away but there’s High Sierra Lanes within walking distance.

Downtown Reno
– you can wonder into the downtown region, it takes around 30mins but we’d recommend driving as it’s a busy road and not the best walk. When you are there the river walk is worth strolling down, as you’d expect there’s plenty more shopping and it has a great choice of restaurants and bars.

We update Peppermill Casino (Reno)'s details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Lake Tahoe is on the state line of California and Nevada, taking advantage of the Western American sun, as well as the high altitude of the mountains surrounding the lake. Being the focal point of 9 surrounding ski areas, this is a destination with some of the most spectacular views in the world, contrasting between mountain, lake, town and Nevadan desert. The closest resort to Reno-Tahoe International Airport is Mount Rose, a relatively small ski area with a high concentration of more challenging terrain, wit...
With an area of this size and resorts of this calibre, you’re likely to find more than enough skiing over the immense 20,210 acres of the 9 main resorts. With families accounting for an increasing number of traffic, you’ll find top quality customer service as well as easy trails accounting for 19.4% of runs in the area. Intermediates are catered for the most, with every resort bar one having the highest proportion of their trails categorized as mid difficulty. The tendency of American ski resorts to allow s...
Après in this area can only be described as one of a kind – you are unlikely to find anything like this anywhere in the world. With the lake being dissected by the California/Nevada state line, you’re exposed to a wealth of après style, nightlife and off the mountain activities. You can sense the Nevadan party style at any of the towns on this side of the state line. South Lake Tahoe and Reno epitomise this, each housing numerous casinos where you can gamble the night away in the style of Las Vegas. In ad...
