Overview - chalet description - No 2 Penthouse description

It took us ten years to do the deal, but this Spring with a local partner, we (at last) bought the top floor of the best located building in Avoriaz and are busy transforming twelve 1970’s apartments into three fabulous contemporary spaces. On the 9th floor with fabulous views, No. 2 Penthouse Suite is perhaps not for those prone to vertigo, but perfect if you’re looking to rubberneck the energetic resort centre far below. We’ve tried to blend a bit of contemporary style with classic alpine warmth and can’t wait to know what you think.

It’s pretty unique to have a catered property of this quality for groups as small as four. With just two en suite bedrooms, this little gem is a canny family hideout. The suite is entirely independent with open plan living/dining area and contemporary fireplace, surround sound TV, DVD, WiFi, flat screen TV’s in the bedrooms and a dedicated chalet host.

Call quick, apartments for only four don’t tend to stay on the shelf for long. Particularly in a location like this.

This package holiday to No 2 Penthouse in Avoriaz, France departs Sunday 15th April 2018, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

A purpose built resort with character, Avoriaz’s wood-clad buildings have a striking appearance that set it apart from other destinations. Even more striking is the 360° panorama of the Alps – Avoriaz is located right in the centre of the stunning Portes du Soleil. Completely ski in/out, a holiday in Avoriaz means you don’t have to lug your equipment around and can maximise time on the slopes. This is one of our favourite resorts to bring the brood: thanks to a huge and central children’s village, complete with a specialised snowboarding area, children can learn to ski and ride in a fun and safe environment. Avoriaz is one of the only resorts that has a Beginner Pass – letting you find your feet on easy terrain via 14 lifts without the expense of a full lift pass. Beginners-only piste Première Glisse gives you the chance to improve at your own pace, while Proclu and Q’mont are easy blues for cruis...
While Avoriaz isn’t renowned for its nightlife, it nevertheless has an array of restaurants, bars and off-slope activities that contribute to a lively après ski scene. Le Tavallion is an English themed pub for a home-from-home atmosphere, Shooters is good for party-lovers while Le Choucas and Le Yak tend to be the venues of choice for late night clubbing. With sister restaurants in glamorous St Tropez and Marrakesh, La Table du Marché is a place to fine-dine in style. Alongside a few of the pubs, Chez Flo s...

"Amazing Avoriaz"

Karen Littler
5/ out of 5
After several holidays at Altitude Lodge in Les Gets, we decided to try something new. Avoriaz did not hold the best of memories, having been the resort we were bussed into when snow was lacking in other resorts within Portes De Soleil. What an amazing surprise it has been. Bizarrely beautiful and unique. So easy to reach Morzine, Les Gets, Super Chatel and Switzerland. This has been our first time in an apartment. Jenni, our host(ess) or as my husband would say “top bird”, is an absolute gem. Superb chef and the most efficient, personable and delightful young lady… We feel like she is part of our group. The only criticism we have is the disparity in the size of the bedrooms. The twin is extremely bijou and more suitable for children or teenagers rather than a couple. We were unable to get ready at the same time. The beds are pushed together, with one against the wall, which I found extremely claustrophobic. The double room is so much more spacious, and although we were originally allocated this room, our friend’s husband being so tall, would not have been suited to the smaller room.

"Wonderful two weeks on the 9th floor"

Fantastic couple of weeks in Avoriaz. Josh was calm, efficient, great with the kids and cooked superb food. 9th floor penthouse was wonderful – right in the centre of things for snowboarding, sledging or whatever else was needed; but quiet at night and with amazing views. Apartment was great size for a family of four and well kitted out, only (very small) niggles was a lack of terrestrial channels, but Netflix worked a treat; though the lift might need some attention… Ski locker arriving during our stay was a great help. Nanny Teri was great with the kids – they were kept well entertained and gave us peace of mind straight away that they were extremely well looked after. Alys was also an excellent resort manager – nothing was too much trouble and both she and the team were knowledgeable about the resort. Josh had great tips on powder stashes and one of the best pizza houses I’ve been to. All in all another wonderful holiday.

Penthouse No 2 is beautifully furnished and being on the 9th floor has a great view and lovely sunsets. It is also ideally located right next to ski school, nursery slopes and in the centre of the resort for restaurants, bars, Aquariaz and tobogganing. Josh, our host, was a great cook, the best out of our three vacations with this company, and pleasant company and Alys, the resort manager, was always on hand for any query, very friendly and smiley. Our only grumble would be the lack of bootroom, but a small grumble. Overall we had an ace time and will hopefully be coming back.
