As a family of 5 with 3 boys (7, 9, 11), this could not have been more perfect. Staff and apartment were outstanding, and the location was perfect for easy access to lifts and ski school. Having our own chef and knowing we did not have to think about what to do for meals was definitely a highlight. + more

Overview - chalet description - No 1 Penthouse description

It took us ten years to do the deal, but in Spring 2015 with a local partner, we (at last) bought the top floor of the best located building in Avoriaz and are busy transforming twelve 1970’s apartments into three fabulous contemporary spaces. No. 1 Penthouse Suite offers three en suite bedrooms, one with an extra bed in a quirky private alcove; a perfect space for 6-7 guests. The suite is on our private 9th and top floor, with lift access to transport you to and from the piste. As you would expect, the experience comes complete with the ubiquitous surround sound TV, DVD, WiFi and flat screen TV’s in all the bedrooms. If you like traditional, wooden, chalet accommodation then this apartment may not be for you.

If you are looking for a contemporary high altitude base, bang in the centre of the resort, then look no further. The suite is entirely independent, with its own living and dining area and a dedicated chalet host.

This package holiday to No 1 Penthouse in Avoriaz, France departs Sunday 15th April 2018, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

This is one of our favourite resorts to bring the brood: thanks to a huge and central children’s village, complete with a specialised snowboarding area, children can learn to ski and ride in a fun and safe environment. Avoriaz is one of the only resorts that has a Beginner Pass – letting you find your feet on easy terrain via 14 lifts without the expense of a full lift pass. Beginners-only piste Première Glisse gives you the chance to improve at your own pace, while Proclu and Q’mont are easy blues for cruis...
While Avoriaz isn’t renowned for its nightlife, it nevertheless has an array of restaurants, bars and off-slope activities that contribute to a lively après ski scene. Le Tavallion is an English themed pub for a home-from-home atmosphere, Shooters is good for party-lovers while Le Choucas and Le Yak tend to be the venues of choice for late night clubbing. With sister restaurants in glamorous St Tropez and Marrakesh, La Table du Marché is a place to fine-dine in style. Alongside a few of the pubs, Chez Flo s...

"Excellent"

We were a bit concerned about the lack of snow reported as it was so early in the season but as it was a special week including Christmas Day, we hoped for a lovely week in the mountains with our friends.. with a bit of skiing. However, SO impressed with the resorts snow management, wonderfully pisted runs, snow in the village and could still ski to the door. We loved our catered chalet experience, the accommodation was new modern and quirky, wonderful to have great ensuites for each double room. All the staff were great, very positive and professional. Jennie and Glenn looked after us in the chalet above and beyond! They were faultless, we enjoyed their help and company (and of course great food!) I wish them a wonderful season and would love to return.

We have just returned from a magical week in Avoriaz. The chalet is perfectly located in the centre of town and so easy to ski in and out from. This meant we could pop back to see the children at lunch time and catch up on all of the fun they had been having with their nanny Robyn (who was so amazing we wish we could have taken her home with us!) She kept them so entertained with baking, face painting, art work, stories and huge amounts of snow based fun – they loved every minute with her. The snow was excellent, and the resort is great for mixed groups, with runs to suit everyone from our 4 year old upwards. The chalet is beautifully decorated, with stunning views, that we enjoyed over lovely food and wine whilst being really well looked after by Charlotte. Alys was also great giving us lots of top tips about the resort and generally making sure we had everything we needed. We can’t wait to return next year!

"Brilliant!"
