This package holiday to Les Terrasses de Veret in Flaine, France departs Saturday 15th December 2018, for a 7 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

Part of the Grand Massif and fondly known as the “big snowy bowl”, Flaine was purposely plonked on the mountain for direct access to some of the greatest terrain around. While the village may not be brimming with Gallic charm, the skiing and facilities more than make up for it, a place much loved by powder hounds and families alike.

Flaine’s known as a “fly in, ski in/ski out” resort, and the ease of skiing that families and keen skiers rave about here’s no accident – legendary architect Marcel Lajos Breuer designed it to be as ski friendly as possible and he did a jolly good job. A ski lift or piste is never far away and the town itself is completely traffic free, with cars only allowed to enter to drop off and pick up luggage. Whilst it won’t be winning the gong for chocolate box charm, Breuer’s work has seen Flaine classed as ‘...
With its high altitudes producing wonderful ski conditions throughout the season, Flaine is famed for offering an all-round ski area with plenty of slopes for all abilities - the perfect place for some quality skiing or snowboarding. This is a popular place to learn to ski or snowboard and even has free beginners lifts for those who are finding their feet. The schools all have English speaking instructors who can guide you through the basics and have you gliding down the slopes in no time. Once you’re comfor...
The excellent skiing in the resort is matched by fun après ski and there’s something to suit everyone - from a family night out to an all-night party thanks to a range of places to eat, drink and dance. If you’re staying in Flaine Forum you’ll enjoy all the restaurants and bars right on your doorstep. The après is a short bus ride from Flaine Foret which is considered the slightly more residential part of Flaine. You can get a ski lift or shuttle bus into the town for après so you won’t be missing out. ...

"Loved hot tub and pool"

Lisa Burns, Fife
5/ out of 5
We had a lovely week, our apartment was quite small but it had everything we needed and was close to all the amenities – we really enjoyed the pool and the Jacuzzi. You’re very close to the slopes and ski school so it’s a really good place for families and you have the equipment storage downstairs so you can just go down, clip on your boots and go. The children slept in the living room area and we were in a separate bedroom. We did our own breakfasts and a few lunches in the apartment (the shop lower down in the village is definitely cheaper). The restaurants are really good, we especially liked the pizzeria. The only negative is that our apartment wasn’t particularly clean when we arrived.

"Nice modern accommodation"

Our apartment was really good, I wouldn’t say it was high quality but it was newly done and the facilities were good. The apartment went across 2 floors which was a bit different but quite cosy, with a bedroom and a bathroom on both floors, which worked really well with 5 of us. We cooked nearly every night and the kitchen was well equipped. There’s a local Spar just down the road for getting food. The apartments are about as close to the slopes as you could get as they’re the first building next to the ski lifts – you could ski out if there was enough snow. The receptionist was really nice. It was a shame that the pool and sauna were closed quite early as we didn’t have the time to use them after dinner, which would have been good.
