This package holiday to Le Cristal de l'Alpe Apartments in Alpe d'Huez, France departs Saturday 11th April 2020, for a 7 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d’Huez is very accessible from Grenoble airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain and it is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as “L’ile ...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936. And with a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers and there are plenty of wide open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the blue runs coming down from the main mountain and the signal sector back into Alpe d’Huez. There is a really impressive selection of runs for ...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe, which combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithys tavern is a proven success in the neighbouring resort of Les Deux Alpes and the Smithy’s in Alpe D’Huez has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France then The Sports Bar is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’huez has a...

"Alpe d'Huez March 2015"

Generally our apartment was fine, it’s centrally placed and a bit like a hotel in the sense that there’s an actual reception area, with a pool and also a lounge area by reception. The apartment itself wasn’t brilliantly large and it looked a bit like the building was created first and then developed into apartments – one of the rooms had a sloping roof that went all the way down to the floor, so you could hardly stand (it would have been logical for them to have put fitted units there to make the most of the space). Another annoyance was finding our way around. On a map it looks logical because they have built the place to look like a collection of buildings and given each building a name but actually trying to find your way back from your room to reception took ages – eventually we worked out that to get to reception you had to follow signs for the sauna… they could definitely do with better signage to help people find their way around. Alpe d’Huez has a milk churn bucket lift which goes down the side of the resort – this was about 2 blocks away and we could actually see it from the back of the chalet. From that lift it was convenient to get to the point where the other lifts are and for our nephews who had never skied before, Alpe d’Huez’s brilliant huge nursery area (the reason we picked this resort for their first ski holiday) was nearby.
