Overview - hotel description - Hotel Tango description

NB: while the Supplier rating is 3.5 Star, the Official rating is 4 Star.

The Hotel Tango is a fun and cosy place to stay, right in the middle of the highest ski resort in Europe. The original 1960s hotel was rebuilt in 2012, and has since become one of the most popular meeting spots in Val Thorens. It’s quirky and contemporary throughout, with plenty of comfortable places to relax.

Each of the 61 rooms is decorated in warm blues and reds, with dark wooden furniture and wallpaper patterned with tartan or snowy trees. Most of them have a balcony too.

The super cosy lounge area is a great place to unwind at the end of the day, in front of the roaring fire or watching a game on the big TV, preferably with a drink from the bar in hand. Tucked around the corner, the Alpine Kitchen restaurant dishes out a range of good quality food from around the world, in a calm and refined setting – the Tango Burger in particular is a legendary staple.

Outside, there’s a terrace that really comes alive at après time. Sip cocktails while listening to live music, or let loose and dance in your ski boots. And a couple of times a week, they also host a lunchtime barbecue.

A visit to the wellness area is another must – make the most of the sauna and hammam, and maybe even book in for a massage, to get you ready for another day on the slopes.

And while the style is laid-back, the service is anything but – you can expect the same excellent standard that comes with all Langley hotels.

Best of all, the Tango is ski-in, ski-out, so you can step out of the ski room and cruise straight to the lifts.

The après ski here easily rivals other top resorts in the Alps. If you haven't already had the Folie Douce experience, head just under the Plein Sud lift where the "dancefloor on top of the world" is heaving from 3 pm. Another place to party is Bar 360 at the end of the blue Moraine run, which always has live music and cheaper drinks. The Hotel Tango was fantastic. Amazing food - They did a good mix of local French cuisine and it was all very balanced for children and for adults. At times the local food was a bit funny for kids, but it wasn’t a big issue. There’s an open fire in the lounge area where everyone mixes and mingles which is where we ended up most evenings rather than going out in Val Thorens. Room & bathroom - We were two people in what was basically a room for four. It was made up of 2 singles and a sofa bed, which we ended up using as a little sitting room area. If I had ended up sharing it with three others I probably would have leapt out the window! It would have been far too small. Linen and cleaning were both very good, and our beds were comfortable. The bathroom was what you’d call a wet room, basically if you had a shower everything got soaked. Great location – it’s ski in, ski out, so in the evenings we took a chairlift which actually went right by the window of our room and then skied down about 500m to the back of the hotel. In the mornings, it was a little traverse out the front on an unofficial slope and then onto the main area. We would go back to that hotel and would recommend it.
