One of the tallest buildings in Innsbruck, the Ramada’s smooth exterior and unusually angled walls give it a distinctive modern look. Inside, the décor is bright and inviting, with white walls, wooden floors and pops of colour from the curtains and furniture.

It’s in a handy spot if you want to split your time between the slopes and the city. The daily ski bus stops outside and will take you to the nearby resorts of Axamer Lizumm, Schlick 200 and the Stubai glacier in less than an hour. You can use the ski buses for free using the Innsbruck Welcome card that’s included with your stay, but you’ll still have to pay for your lift passes when you get there. And when you fancy exploring Innsbruck, there’s a speedy bus connection to the central train station, which is just 10 minutes’ walk from the old town.

After a day of skiing or sightseeing, head up to the rooftop terrace with a drink, and enjoy panoramic views of the city and snow-capped mountain peaks. For some rest and relaxation visit the hotel wellness area, where you can warm up in the sauna or soothe your muscles in the steam room.

When it comes to food, there’s a buffet breakfast to start the day – fuel up on fresh bread, cereal and sliced meats and cheeses. In the evening, you’ve got the freedom to explore Innsbruck’s many restaurants. The Nordkette ski area is the smallest, with 15km of slopes, mostly reds, served by five lifts. Muttereralm pips it to the post size-wise, with an extra kilometre of terrain – it’s also a slightly better bet for beginners with more by way of blue runs. There are 17km of slopes in Rangger Köpfl, including 2km of expert terrain and the majority of slopes (8km) graded blue.
