This package holiday to Hotel Le Royal Ours Blanc in Alpe d'Huez, France departs Saturday 7th January 2017, for a 7 night stay on a "half board" board basis. With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d’Huez is very accessible from Grenoble airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain and it is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as “L’ile ...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936. And with a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers and there are plenty of wide open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the blue runs coming down from the main mountain and the signal sector back into Alpe d’Huez. There is a really impressive selection of runs for ...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe, which combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithys tavern is a proven success in the neighbouring resort of Les Deux Alpes and the Smithy’s in Alpe D’Huez has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France then The Sports Bar is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’huez has a...

The hotel is very very good! It’s a fantastic place, beautifully decorated with lovely staff. In terms of the food, we only had breakfasts here but they were amazing – for the rest of our meals we ate out in the local restaurants, there are so many in Alpe d’Huez. The hotel is next to the ice rink and also near the outdoor swimming pool, although we were too exhausted to try them after skiing all day! Our room was the perfect size, not too big and not too small. My only complaint with this holiday (in comparison to our previous ski holiday in Niederau) is that it was a long trek to the slopes: we had to take the bus which took ten minutes, on top of waiting time and they don’t have any lockers near the slopes so everyone had their equipment. Overall I’d highly recommend staying here, it’s especially good for families as there’s a little play area and TV in the lobby which also has a bar where parents can have a drink while kids play.
