Overview: hotel description: Hotel Gabl description

You can't get closer to the slopes than Hotel Gabl. Next door to the Nassereinbahn gondola, this hotel is in a quiet area of town within walking distance of St Anton's lively centre. A great pick if you're booking lessons, the ski school meeting point and nursery slopes are right outside. And for more experienced skiers, a short gondola ride takes you to the top to explore the huge Arlberg ski area.

The rooms are simply decorated with white walls, wooden floors and wood-panelling, and pictures of St Anton on the walls help provide a homely touch. Downstairs in the spa warm yellow tones and terracotta tiles surround the sauna and hot tub. When the lifts close for the day, head down here to unwind in the warmth before dinner.

You're half board here, and the hotel provides dinner 6 nights per week. Start the day with a buffet breakfast and enjoy a 4-course meal after exploring the slopes. There's plenty of places to eat in town, so when the restaurant's closed there are some great options to choose from. Chill out in the lounge after dinner, or head into town to enjoy a drink in one of St Anton's many bars.

Brimming with traditional Austrian charm but with all the conveniences of a modern resort, St Anton's vast, high altitude ski area and vibrant atmosphere make it truly world class. It's one of the major international destinations that everyone must visit at least once (and is likely to return to frequently thereafter). Two minutes from the train station and less than an hour's drive from Innsbruck airport, it's a conveniently accessible resort. The main village is traffic free and stretches for about 1km - dot...
It's often said that if you learn to ski or snowboard here, you're likely to find any other resort an utter breeze... Just don't do a Bridget Jones (her memorable descent in 'Edge of Reason' took place on one of the more challenging Arlberg runs) and make sure to take advantage of the excellent tuition on offer. Thanks to local legend Hannes Schneider, St Anton opened the first ski school in 1921. The Skischule Arlberg continues to provide excellent tuition today, so beginners are in good hands. There's a nurs...
The après ski here is absolutely legendary: the atmosphere is constantly buzzing and with a night bus running until 3am, you can really make the most of your evening. You'll find about 20 bars offering a variety of scenes, but to experience après ski at its best you can't leave until you've joined the masses and danced on the tables at world-famous Mooserwirt or The Crazy Kangaroo (Krazy Kanguruh). While it's reputation is lively (and the resort lives up to it) there are lots of options if you prefer a more so...
