Overview: hotel description: Hotel Bechlwirt description

For a stay in Kirchberg that’s full of history, delicious food and snowy peaks, make sure you pick the Hotel Bechlwirt.

This age-old hotel was built precisely in the centre of the resort at the end of the 14thcentury and has been run by the same family – the Mauracher-Daxers’ – since the 18thcentury. It’s a typically Austrian building, heavily embellished with wooden beams and hanging flower baskets.

Head inside and up the stairs and you’ll find that the rooms are warm, spacious and impeccably clean, with large, comfy beds and modern bathrooms.

The dining room is where it’s happening, though. Here is where you’ll eat your half-board meals, made up of mouth-watering dishes that are a treat for all the senses. Expect a wide range of some of the best international delicacies, as well as regional favourites, all in one room.

However, if you prefer a little more choice of menu then try out the à la carte Bechlwirt Restaurant – you won’t be disappointed.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head-to-head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.

Lively après Ski Kitzbühel for less Linked ski area

Base yourself in Kirchberg for a cheaper way to ski legendary Kitzbühel, which is on the other side of the mountain and shares the same ski pass. We love its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere – don’t be misled by its petite size and quaint village charm, the après here’s some of the best around.

Surrounded by huge forests and big Alpine lakes and just over the mountain from legendary Kitzbühel, Kirchberg is a pretty little village with a friendly atmosphere and a number of historic buildings, including the time-honoured village church. Just 6km west of Kitzbühel, it has become a popular resort in its own right over the years. It’s easily reached with Innsbruck airport an hour’s drive away and Salzburg only half an hour more, and the resort also has its own train station. This traditional farming ...
Beginners can get to grips on the nursery slopes at the base of the Mairel chairlift and on the Gaisberg mountain (the Gaisberg is also the place to go each Thursday and Friday for night skiing on fully lit terrain). The Fleck and Kaser blue runs, which can be accessed via the Fleckalmbahn chairlift and lead back to the village are brilliant to build up confidence on before moving up to Silberstube and Kasereck on the Pengelstein. Visitors can access the rest of the area by taking the free ski bus, which runs...
Although Kirchberg’s small, it’s home to some of the best après-ski in the Austrian Alps, which sees young people returning year after year. Après starts on the slopes in bars like Schneebar Oberkaser and there are twenty bars back in the village including the Australian run Boomerang and the very lively Londoner. For some late night dancing try Fuchslöch or for the ultimate après-ski party go to Ice Bar in Orszentrum, where you’ll find live DJs, club anthems and throngs of dancers. If you’re looking for...
