We’re delighted to be able to bring you the Hôtel le Castillan for the 2014/15 ski season - a chalet-style hotel conveniently located in the traditional old centre of Alpe d’Huez. The elevated position of the hotel means the bedrooms enjoy views of either the mountain or resort, while south-facing superior rooms also have a balcony. The food at le Castillan is fantastic too. The panoramic Alpine restaurant has an excellent local reputation - evening meals include a superb 5-course menu with Savoyard specialities. As well as the south-facing bar and sun terrace, a fantastic spa area completes the facilities. This includes a gym, sauna and steam room while massage treatments can be booked locally at a supplement. You can be assured of excellent value for money when you book at Le Castillan.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d’Huez is very accessible from Grenoble airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain and it is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936. And with a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers and there are plenty of wide open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic.
