Overview: hotel description: Grand Hotel Belvedere description

The Grand Hotel Belvedere is Wengen's first five-star hotel. Set back from the main street, you can enjoy wonderful views over the village and Lauterbrunnen Valley. The village centre is just five minutes’ walk where you can find a range of shops, restaurants and the Männlichen gondola. After a day of exploring the Jungfrau Ski Area, there is nowhere better to relax than the wellness area with an outdoor pool overlooking the forest, or in the Swiss style bar with a coffee and slice of cake.

Unique hotel

The former Art Nouveau style hotel dates back to 1912 and has been lovingly renovated for the 24/25 winter season, yet still retains its original charm. Furnished in a classic Alpine style, the hotel highlights the Bernese Oberland artisan heritage with warm wood throughout. Whether it's the bright lounge area, the welcoming lobby or the different areas of the bar, everything has been thought of. Set against the panoramic mountain scenery you can enjoy views of the iconic Schilthorn, Silberhorn and Jungfrau Mountains from the terrace, restaurant and many of the bedrooms.

Food and drink

Available on Bed & Breakfast, you can enjoy a tasty breakfast including a classic continental offering with breads, pastries, fresh fruit and daily hot options before heading out onto the mountain. There are a range of restaurants in resort where you can enjoy an evening meal, however if you don't fancy venturing out, there are two restaurants on-site. Restaurant Waldrand serves classic Swiss specialty dishes including potato gratin, schnitzel and älpermagronen (Swiss alpine macaroni) - be sure to try a glass of Swiss wine with your meal. Brasserie Belvedere is a relaxed style restaurant serving tasty bistro style dishes made with local ingredients. If you are having a day in, you can enjoy snacks and drinks on the sunny terrace or a slice of cake and coffee from the Swiss-style counter. After dinner, head to the elegant bar area for a bespoke cocktail or a glass of wine.

Take the fuss out of mealtimes and upgrade to half board, this includes breakfast and a five-course evening meal with a choice of main course.

Soothing spa

When you return from a day of skiing on the sunny slopes of Wengen, Grindelwald or Murren, there is nowhere better to unwind than in the hotels spa area. Have a dip in the indoor pool before heading out to the outdoor pool, built in a brutalist style, overlooking the forest and mountain peaks - you can then warm up in the sauna or hammam. Spa treatments and massages are also available, for a little extra treat. If you want to stay active even off the slopes, there's a fitness room and fitness classes available (additional costs may apply).

Nestled at the foot of the majestic Jungfrau and looking out over the Eiger and Monch massive, Wengen is a truly spectacular location for a ski holiday. It’s linked to the resorts of Grindelwald, Mürren and Lauterbrunnen, forming the large Jungfrau ski area of over 200km. The famous Jungfrau region is one of the oldest and most popular holiday destinations in Switzerland and the sunny resort has long been a favourite with Brits. It dates back to around 1911, after tourists convinced the resort to keep their...
The railway still remains the key mode of transport between the ski areas – use it to get over to Grindelwald, Mürren, or Kleine Scheidegg at the base of the Eiger. However, it’s still possible to ski without catching the train thanks to the modern Männlichenbahn gondola. Total beginners should probably start with the Wengiboden nursery slope in the village if there is enough snow, but just remember it’s best in the mornings before the sun hits it. There’s also the Figeller children’s area, where the S...
Wengen certainly isn’t one of those mega party resorts you get in some parts of the Alps but there are some fun places for an après-ski tipple - head to Rocks Bar for televised sports events or go dancing at the Blue Monkey. There are some great restaurants in Wengen, many of which are based in hotels (but open to the public). For fine dining, Chez Meyer's Le Grand restaurant at the Hotel Regina is a must – its outstanding service and French cuisine has been granted 15/20 Gault Millau points (similar to Mi...
