· 6 minutes’ steep walk to and from the centre of the resort · 6 minutes’ walk to the Prorel gondola · ski school meeting point and nursery slopes at the top of the Prorel gondola · ski bus stops at the Prorel gondola
Sparkling new for this winter, the Garrigae Caserne de Briançon adds a dash of historic intrigue to a ski stay brimming with alpine-chic style. Right in the heart of Briançon, the hotel building was once a military barracks – now lovingly restored with light, neutral tones, quality natural materials and tasteful mountain prints. It’s contemporary, it’s charming – and it’s got a ton of character.
Getting on the mountains each day is no fuss – the Prorel gondola is just a 6-minute stroll away, and the ski bus which can whip you over to Serre Chevalier’s other villages stops there too. Once you’re all skied-out and back at the hotel, stash your gear in the boot room, switch off active mode and relax. Go for a soak in the sauna before cocktail hour, or grab a little nap in your cosy room or suite before making dinner plans.
The restaurant here features large, arched windows and thoughtful lighting which gives the room a warm ambience – and food-wise, keeps the focus on authentic local cuisine. You can keep things flexible and just have breakfasts included with your stay, and simply pay locally if you fancy a meal in. Or for total convenience, choose the half board upgrade and look forward to three courses here every night.
