Overview - chalet description - Darkoum Kalo description

Following our arrival in Courchevel 1850 last year, we are delighted to have added another three delightful chalet apartments to our portfolio for this season. Darkoum is a four storey, freestanding chalet containing just three wonderful apartments (Darkoum Kalo, Lama and Makan). These three properties are in the same killer location as our other Courchevel chalets, just across the road from the gentle Bellecote piste into the resort centre, making it virtually ski-in ski-out and perfect for families.

Darkoum Kalo accommodates up to 10 guests over two levels and is entirely independent with a spacious, open plan living area with balcony and log fire and a dedicated chalet host.

This duplex apartment is comfortably and elegantly furnished and comprises the first two floors of the building. Kalo boasts a spacious open plan living area with large squashy sofas, a delightful open fire, flat-screen TV, Blu-ray DVD, Apple TV and Bluetooth soundbar. Outside there is a large wrap around balcony, ideal for soaking up the sun and admiring the dramatic Alpine views.

There are two en suite double bedrooms on the top floor and three twin/double bedrooms on the floor below, two of which share a bathroom. If you're booking the chalet for 10, the 9th & 10th guests are charged at half the adult price. Each of the bedrooms has a TV with UK Freeview and there is a small playroom with TV for children. Access between the ground and lower floor is via a narrow spiral staircase.

For larger groups the Darkoum apartments can be booked together to accommodate up to 23 guests.

This package holiday to Darkoum Kalo in Courchevel, France departs Wednesday 3rd January 2018, for a 4 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

Ideal for those at the genesis of their skiing career, a socking great 60% of slopes here are beginner friendly. There's a 'Stop Zone' where learners can safely conquer the basics before hitting the slopes, and 4 beginner areas (called Zen Zones) where you can gently progress – find two in the main area and one each in Moriond and Le Praz. As part of the effort to making the resort child friendly, fun for sprogs the focus of the Indiens piste, where little ones can enjoy face painting, a treasure trail and many...
Après ski in 1850 is the height of sophistication. Enjoy a cosy fireside cocktail in Le Stanleys or Les Ducs de Savoie, two of the resort's many piano bars; sample fine wine and champagne in Le P'tit Drink or head to La Grange or L'Arc (formally Les Caves) for an uber posh clubbing scene. Down in 1650, you can fully appreciate the stunning surroundings at The Signal bar. Les Schuss is good for a quiet drink in a traditional Savoyarde setting and if you're looking for live music and a vibrant atmosphere, try Roc...
