The best thing about Club Med Val d’Isere is that the staff were fantastic – always nice and attentive. The location was fantastic as you could ski out the back of the ski room and get to the lifts in about five minutes. The bedrooms were rather small but the spa was really nice. In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. "Definitely recommend it to couples"

Mr Ross Anning, Parsons Green

We really like Club Med in Val d’Isere. I stayed here with my fiancé and would definitely recommend it to couples, or anyone else really! It’s not the flashiest place in the world but if you want to ski with everything on your doorstep and be well looked after, it’s ideal. The location is really good, it’s close to the town and you can ski out from the hotel. The rooms are functional but nothing flash and everything about the food was really good (they did some nice local dishes). They have a bar and had stuff on in the evenings but we didn’t really do much apart from ski and sleep!

"Brilliant!"

Brilliant week! In terms of the hotel, really good food and service, loads of staff. Our ski instructor was awesome. Food and lessons were definitely the best bits! Our room wasn’t great (a bit cramped and dated) but we didn’t spend much time in there anyway. On the whole, the hotel was well looked after. I was a complete beginner, but after a few days I could make use of the ski in – ski out location which was great. We chose this one as it was a week away without the kids – the hotel doesn’t have a kids club so we thought it would have a more adult atmosphere which it did, there were some children saying there but not loads. I would definitely go again if we were having another holiday as just the two of us - if we bring the kids next year we might try the Club Med over in Tignes.

The best thing about Club Med Val d’Isere is that the staff were fantastic – always nice and attentive. The location was fantastic as you could ski out the back of the ski room and get to the lifts in about five minutes. The bedrooms were rather small but the spa was really nice. A lot of people thought the food could have been better though, they didn’t turn the hot plates on so everything was luke warm and quite bland. One disappointing thing was the ski school – my son wanted to try snowboarding and on his first lesson, the instructor split the group of 8 up, leaving him and 2 other girls with no instructor for half an hour. This put him off snowboarding and the head of the ski school tried to justify himself rather than apologise. If they plan to split the group, they should have had 2 instructors. Apart from this the Club Med staff were great, and Val d’Isere’s a gorgeous resort.
