Had a great week staying in Tolima in mid March. The chalet is lovely and although on the edge of town, access is easy to La Daille and Val D'isere even up to Le Fornet via the free bus running every 5mins in the day. I loved the big balconies around the chalet with amazing views looking at the surrounding mountains. The rooms and en suites seem a bit outdated and old fashioned, but could also be said to be sticking to its traditional theme, different strokes for different folks? In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"Fab chalet. Staff not so fab."

May
4/ out of 5
Chalet Tolima is a fabulous chalet with a really lovely, beautiful interior. The food and staff were good and the whole thing worked quite well. Its location is brilliant and the buses were excellent. Not so pleased with the staff – communication was very poor when we were delayed due to tire checks on the coach journey in. The rep kept saying we were just around the corner, when 2 hours later we were still crawling up the mountain. No snacks or drinks were provided on the coach, so apart from a biscuit on the plane we had nothing to eat until we arrived at 1-2am! At the end of the week we accidentally left a pair of insoles in our snow boots. The chalet girl said she’d look for them immediately but didn’t. We called the rep who said they’d check but came back with nothing. Then I traced the ski shop myself and contacted them, and they found the insoles very quickly and easily. Overall the service was quite irritating!

Best points about our week would have to be Dan and Cath astounding chalet hosts! Tolima is a lovely chalet spacious and comfortable and well sited for the rapid bus transfer to lifts, or a pleasant walk if not in ski boots! Downsides Downstairs room with separate loo! You are part of the entrance walk way and the loo is not close and not kept for your use, so not good for privacy, annoying as had asked all the probing questions before hand! Don't book unless a good discount is offered. Ski hire The skimium crew used by the chalet are in a word atrocious No better no cheaper just shop around anywhere else

Had a great week staying in Tolima in mid March. The chalet is lovely and although on the edge of town, access is easy to La Daille and Val D'isere even up to Le Fornet via the free bus running every 5mins in the day. Easy walking distance to the centre for après ski shops and dinner out. Hosts were great. Good wine. Try restaurant Signal above La Fornet for lunch. Good mix of people in chalet. Only downside was noise from the road in the night but that's if I have to think of something.

We had a really good week, this was the first time we had stayed in a 5 star chalet and it’s definitely one of the best chalets we’ve stayed in. It was also the first time we’ve actually had a double bed in a chalet which was nice; overall the whole layout was very good. The Tolima’s location made it very easy to get around, we weren’t in the centre of town but it was only a little walk away. The food was really good and they were very flexible if you didn’t like something or wanted porridge in the mornings etc.

"Large and laid back Espace Killy base"

4/ out of 5
Stylish and traditional in design and layout, it is a big chalet, spread out over three floors. The wood panels in contrast to the modern luxuries which accompany it, augment the chalet-chic looks, to create the homely and welcoming place that both we and our guests love. The bus stop is 30 seconds round the corner and you’ll be on the piste within five minutes, making this a sought after location. After a good day on the hill, either walk the short ten minutes to the village centre to check out the après ski, or simply unwind on the balcony off the open-plan living room with a glass of wine. The choice is up to you!

"Great if you're outward looking"

Jackie, London
4/ out of 5
I loved the big balconies around the chalet with amazing views looking at the surrounding mountains. The rooms and en suites seem a bit outdated and old fashioned, but could also be said to be sticking to its traditional theme, different strokes for different folks? Overall I'd say this is a very cosy holiday base - we loved being in the living area where you can enjoy each other’s company. It's all about the vistas and would probably suit anyone who's happy being more outward looking (not for those wanting boutique chic).
