Location of Chalet Tavernier in Morzine

Chalet Location

The chalet is located in a quiet hamlet around 1km from the Prodains gondola, and 3km from Morzine.

To Ski Avoriaz:

Chalet Tavernier is an 8-10 minute walk from the chalet to the Prodains lift, which takes you up into the heart of Avoriaz. You can ski back to Prodains village on a blue run from Avoriaz or enjoy the apres ski in Avoriaz and take the gondola back to Prodains, the Prodains gondola runs until 9pm during the week and 11pm at weekends. You can then take the walk back to the chalet or take the Line A bus, before 9pm back to the chalet

Walk a few minutes from the chalet to the nearest bus stop and take a short 3-minute bus ride to the Prodains gondola. Line A runs daily from 8am to 9pm, approximately every 7 mins during peak ski hours and then every 15 mins.

Tip: if you hire your skis with you can leave your skis at the Prodains ski hire shop overnight and walk easily in your day boots to and from the chalet.

To Ski Morzine

Morzine Pleney is 7-10 min bus ride (Line A), which runs daily from 8am to 9pm, approximately every 7 mins during peak ski hours and then every 15 mins.

Spacious and traditionally furnished, Chalet Tavernier sits in a quiet hamlet of traditional rural residences where you can take the free bus or walk 8 - 10 minutes to the Avoriaz Prodains Express Gondola or 10 minute bus ride to Mozine, meaning you can ski in both Avoriaz and Morzine on your chalet ski holiday.

All rooms in Chalet Tavernier have twin beds and all can be made up as doubles; please request at the time of booking.

On the first floor, there's a spacious open-plan kitchen-diner, lounge with a lovely log burner and access to a terrace and jacuzzi with lovely valley views toward Morzine, the stunning cliffs of Avoriaz and across the fields to the forest. The kitchen diner and lounge were fully refurbished in December 2022. The lounge TV has a HDMI port (French channels only, use your own account or device and cable).

The chalet has a ski room with boot dryers.

As with all chalets, there is a bag store available during the day if you would like to ski on your arrival and departure day, enabling to maximise your ski time in the Portes du Soleil.

The sauna is spacious and located on the ground floor, perfect to warm up and relax after a winter day on the slopes. The jacuzzi is outside on the terrace in a peaceful location, surrounded by the stunning rural landscape and wonderful views; perfect to relax in and soak up the tranquility of the valley after a hard days skiing.

The free ski bus to Morzine or the Prodains gondola is just a few minutes walk away. Buses run regularly throughout the day and into the evening, until 9pm. At the foot of the Prodains lift and 8 - 10 minutes walk from the chalet there are a lovely selection of bars and restaurants with a good apres ski vibe.

The kettle is always on at a chalet for you to help yourself to a great selection of hot drinks.

Arrival Days & Check In

  • Arrive on a Monday and stay for 3 or 7 nights
  • Arrive on a Thursday and stay for 4 or 7 nights

Chalet Hosts day off is Wednesday and morning off is Saturday (these may vary over Christmas and New Year).

Check in/out:

On arrival day - you may arrive at Chalet Tavernier anytime from 09:30 to change, leave your bags and go skiing. Your bedroom will be ready by 17:00 at the latest but normally earlier.

Late Arrival Supplement - if you are scheduled to arrive at the chalet after 21:30 we will book a host to return to work to let you into the chalet, show you to your room, provide you with information to ensure your ski time is not delayed the next day and to provide you with a light supper. There is a small supplement for late arrivals.

On your departure day , bedroom checkout is 09:00 but we know that you may want to ski until the last minute, so we ensure that there is somewhere for you to leave your bags and change up until 5pm. Where possible a shower will be made available for you to use too; this cannot be guaranteed until your departure day.

Please note that on guest changeover days, between the hours of 09:30 and 17:00, both departing and arriving guests will be sharing the chalet public areas.

MEALS AT Chalet Tavernier, Morzine

On arrival you will be welcomed with tea and cake and before dinner on your first evening, there will be a welcome drink. Chalet Tavernier is a catered chalet with our Classic chalet board; continental breakfast & delicious afternoon tea and cake are served daily, hot breakfast options such as bacon, beans & eggs, sausage, tomatoes and eggs or a pancake stack and porridge with sprinkles are served on 5 mornings in addition to the continental breakfast.

Baguette To Go : at breakfast you will be invited to make your own ham & cheese baguette, to take out if you wish.

Chalet evening meals ; we all look forward to the homemade 3-course evening meal with carefully selected wine included during dinner service, which is served on 6 evenings . This is all provided by your friendly host who lives in.

Host Time Off : Please note that your host in this chalet has Wednesday all day off and Saturday morning off, this gives you an opportunity to dine out on Wednesday evening in the local Prodains area which has a selection of local bars and restaurants. Alternately use the Prodains lift to dine in Avoriaz or the free bus service to dine out in Morzine. On your hosts mornings off, you can help yourself to a delicious continental breakfast, freshly baked croissants delivered to your door, ham & cheese lunch baguettes to go and afternoon tea and cake will be available for you to self serve. During your stay, your host will cater for special diet requirements at no extra supplement , just so long a it is booked no later than a few weeks before travel.

As the chalet is not located near any shops, we have an in chalet 'tuck shop' where you can purchase beer, fizzy soft drinks and snacks during your stay. The nearest supermarkets are in the centre of Morzine and Avoriaz.

If you enjoy finer wine with your evening meal, would like the addition of a cheese board with port after your chalet dinner and on hosted mornings set yourself up for the day with a full English breakfast; sole occupancy private groups may add this VIP upgrade to their booking in this chalet for a supplement. Please request at time of booking your holiday.

For families with younger children, a children's menu can be pre booked before travel at no extra supplement. When booking the chalet for private sole use, an earlier children's dinner time (high tea) can be pre-booked for a supplement.

The kettle is always on at a chalet, for you to help yourself to hot drinks and your chalet host will ensure you will not go hungry and have food for energy for great days skiing.
