Overview - chalet description - Chalet Nightingale description

Grab the grandparents, the kids or a few of your favourite friends and prepare for a memorable stay at the Chalet Nightingale. Brand new for Winter 2018/19, the chalet, in the heart of Alpe d’Huez, is an intimate setting for families and groups of up to seven who want to make the most of their time together in a stress-free, social environment.

As well as being a short 5-minute walk from the centre of resort, the chalet is slopeside, meaning your mornings are easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy. The ski school and beginners slopes are at the top of the Telecentre lift, which is only a 3-minute walk away.

Mood lighting, wall art and patterned materials jazz up the traditional wood-panelled décor in the three bedrooms and communal spaces within the chalet walls. The open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area is sociable, too, allowing for evening catch-ups, film nights and after-dinner games. On the lower-ground floor, you’ll also find a hot tub and sauna, perfect for soothing aching muscles after a full day on the slopes.

You don’t have to worry about budgeting or meals or cooking up your own grub, either – our on-hand chalet host will do all of the work for you. From hearty cooked breakfasts and homemade cakes, to delicious 3-course dinners and free-flowing wine six days a week, you’ll be going to bed satisfied. On the chalet host’s day off, you’ll get the chance to sample the restaurants around town – so make sure you tuck into some fondue or raclette for a true Alpine experience.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d’Huez is very accessible from Grenoble airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain and it is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as “L’ile ...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936. And with a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers and there are plenty of wide open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the blue runs coming down from the main mountain and the signal sector back into Alpe d’Huez. There is a really impressive selection of runs for ...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe, which combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithys tavern is a proven success in the neighbouring resort of Les Deux Alpes and the Smithy’s in Alpe D’Huez has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France then The Sports Bar is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’huez has a...
