Overview - chalet description - Chalet Marie description

Fantastic location right on the slopes. Chalet Marie would be a top chalet in virtually any resort, but situated here near the centre of Avoriaz, it's a complete stunner.

The chalet is modern and spacious inside, and charmingly decorated with Alpine antiques and inviting Savoyarde colour and panache. Sleeping 14-15, all seven wood panelled bedrooms all have en suite facilities.

With doorstep skiing, you have quick and easy access to the slopes to enjoy the full Portes du Soleil Ski Area.

The delightful heart of the chalet is the large open-plan living and dining area with high beamed ceilings, a feature fireplace, floor to ceiling picture windows and a balcony with great views across the resort and valley below to distant peaks.

Our chalets are going greener, so our mountains don't

This package holiday to Chalet Marie in Avoriaz, France departs Saturday 23rd December 2023, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

Established in the 1960s as the brainchild of Olympic champion skier Jean Vuarnet, Avoriaz is a purpose build resort with tonnes of character. The wood-clad buildings have a striking appearance that set it apart from other destinations. Even more impressive is the 360° panorama of the Alps. Avoriaz is brilliantly located right in the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Completely ski-in ski-out, a holiday in Avoriaz means you don't have to lug your equipment around and you can maximise time on the slopes...
Avoriaz is one of our favourite resorts to bring the family - thanks to a huge and central children's village, complete with a specialised snowboarding area, children can learn to ski and ride in a fun and safe environment. Avoriaz is one of the only resorts that has a Beginner Pass, letting you find your feet on easy terrain via 14 lifts without the expense of a full lift pass. Beginners-only piste Première Glisse gives you the chance to improve at your own pace, while Proclou and Q'monts are easy blues for cr...
Avoriaz has worked hard on it's apres game in the last few years, with the addition of a well-known apres go to 'La Folie Douce' for winter 2018. It has an array of restaurants, bars and off-slope activities that contribute to a lively après ski scene. Le Tavallion is an English themed pub for a home-from-home atmosphere, Shooters is good for party-lovers while Le Yak tends to be the venue of choice for late-night clubbing. "Perfect"

Linda, Edinburgh

There was nothing wrong with it really! Everything was nice and clean and the girl and boy running the chalet were great. It’s right next to one of the slopes so you can ski straight from the chalet (the slope was easy enough to suit everyone). The food was beautiful. Breakfast was continental with a cooked dish if we wanted. At 4ish they always made a cake so you could come in and have that. They’d tell you in the morning what they were planning for dinner and give you a choice – dinner was 4 courses and it was first class. My room was on the bottom floor near the boot room, it was basic but fine and they cleaned it every day if you wanted. The chalet has a wee balcony looking out as well as a television and a games room so the facilities are good too.

"Nice chalet in a great resort"

A top of the line catered chalet nestled right on the piste, from whence you can ski right onto the slopes in the Portes du Soleil linked domain. Great for those keen-bean skiers and boarders among us, who want to hit the snow first thing (me included!). The large living area has open fireplace and a sauna where you can chill out at the end of the evening. The operator of the chalet has a reputation as a terrific chalet host, so you enjoy home-cooked food and complementary selection of wines and coffee. But don't overdo it because, with a slopeside location like this, you'll be up and out with the first lifts in the morning.
