This chalet is quite basic but has all you need, what’s great is the large balcony where you can sit and watch skiers come down into Mottaret centre. It’s half way up the hill of Mottaret, you can just take the gondola (about 2 minutes away) to get to the slopes. It is a pretty quiet location, about a 5-10 wa... + more

Fantastically located at the bottom of the piste, it is barely five minutes’ walk from Mottaret centre, including bars, shops and ski hire. Its ‘roll-out-of-bed’ access to the piste and lifts (literally right next door) also makes this a very popular choice for small groups, sleeping up to 8 people. If the a... + more

This package holiday to Chalet Leopold in Meribel & Mottaret, France departs Saturday 2nd January 2021, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A trad alpine village with choc-box chalets, th...
With three beginner areas known as ‘Zen Zones' plus some good greens to practice on including Le Foret, Altiport and the Cool Moon area (carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings), Meribel's one of the best ski resorts to learn in. If you're skiing with little ones there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees. Moon Wild is a special area where children can learn about local wildlife as they enjoy the s...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It’s said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its night...

"All you need"

Harriet, Beckenham

This chalet is quite basic but has all you need, what’s great is the large balcony where you can sit and watch skiers come down into Mottaret centre. It’s half way up the hill of Mottaret, you can just take the gondola (about 2 minutes away) to get to the slopes. It is a pretty quiet location, about a 5-10 walk down sets of stairs to Mottaret centre but there is a ski bus you can take, definitely would recommend this for the way back! Annexe bar is a nice place to have a chilled drink, there is one club called Le Privilege which is good fun. On the chalet hosts' night off I recommend La Pizzeria du Mottaret it has friendly service and lovely food - try to book when you arrive on the first day, as it can be hard to get a walk-in table when all the other chalet guests are our looking to eat too.

Its ‘roll-out-of-bed’ access to the piste and lifts (literally right next door) also makes this a very popular choice for small groups, sleeping up to 8 people. If the attractive location wasn’t enough to sway you, the warm lounge is welcoming relief and a perfect place to chill with a beer; while the balconies on either side of the chalet offer some phenomenal views of the valley.
