Location: where is Chalet Le Manoir

Le Manoir is located in Le Village, an exclusive development at the top of Alpe d'Huez, located in an enviable position right next to the pistes and the main lifts of the resort. In fact you can ski right back to your door at Le Manoir, as the piste runs directly in front of the chalet from the Rond Points des pistes, whilst behind the chalet is a welcoming and attractive cobbled courtyard between the five chalets. The town centre is a pleasant 10 minutes' walk away, where you'll find a vibrant resort, with plenty of great bars, restaurants and shopping, plus an outdoor ice rink and swimming pool. If you don't fancy the walk into town, then take the aerial route as the nearby caged gondola lift can transport you to different parts of the resort.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Le Manoir description

Chalet Le Manoir would make a perfect family ski holiday; get together with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents in this spacious property with six bedrooms accommodating up to 12 guests. With the nursery pistes just outside, it's a great choice if you have children. Don't let that put off groups of adults though, it would also make a great base for a trip with friends, looking to enjoy this vibrant resort which has a great selection of bars, restaurants and après-ski notably with the world renowned Folie Douce above the Bergers area of resort.

The main entrance to the chalet is on the first floor, with a ski and boot room located upon entry. There is a living-cum-dining room located on this floor, which is bathed in light from the vast picture windows. The openness of the room gives a light and airy feel, whilst the focal point of the room, the beautiful stone fireplace gives a warmth which is complimented by the comfortable red sofas. The lovely solid dining table has ample space to seat all the guests, whilst an open window to the kitchen allows those cooking to remain sociable with those in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, four-ring induction hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine and coffee percolator.

The luxurious and spacious bedrooms are spread across the three floors, with a mix of double (160cm x 200cm) and twins (90 x 200cm) each with a balcony and some of which actually spill straight onto the piste. The first bedroom is on the ground floor and has twin beds and an en-suite bathroom and WC, there is another twin on the first floor with en-suite shower and WC, whilst on the second floor there are three twin rooms, two with en-suite bathrooms and one with an en-suite shower room and then the final master bedroom with a double bed and en-suite shower and WC.

There are spa facilities on the ground floor with a sauna and hot tub. From the hot tub you can open up the doors for stunning views of the piste in front of the chalet. It's the perfect way to unwind after a tiring day of skiing and sure to ease any aches and pains away.

There is free WIFI throughout the chalet, so whether you need to do some work whilst away, or just fancy streaming your favourite show, you'll be well looked after. For those driving to the resort, there is underground covered parking available.

We include: beds made on arrival, fridges stocked*, bath robes and slippers, mid-week and end of stay cleaning, mid-week linen change, satellite TV & free WIFI access in the chalet...

*If you choose our contactless catering option, then food and drink are included in the cost. We will supply you with breakfast every day, afternoon tea and snacks, pre-dinner nibbles, plus a three course dinner on six of the seven nights, which also includes a selection of cheeses, champagne for your first evening, a kir for before dinner, unlimited red and white wine and a few beers.

Premium Contactless Catering Service

Your chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready and fridges stocked*, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won't see us. We'll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact, unless you need it. We will visit your chalet mid-week to give it a full clean and change of towels and bed-linen, but this shall be done during the day, whilst you're out on the slopes. You and your family will be safe and looked-after, as we work in the background, providing everything you need.

Our contactless catering service comes with the choice of two pricing options, a fixed menu with food and drink included in the price, and our à la carte option which allows you greater flexibility to eat and drink whatever you desire and the cost of the food is on supplement, at cost price, and depending on what produce you choose to order.

For those looking for a simple packaged chalet price, we are offering an all-inclusive price, which includes rental of the chalet and your food and drink for the week. Included will be breakfast, snacks to take with you skiing, afternoon tea and cakes/snacks, pre-dinner nibbles a three course dinner on 6 out of 7 nights, with a selection of after dinner cheeses, plus champagne for your first night, a kir for before dinner and unlimited wine and some beers. We have prepared a delicious menu for the week, with a mix of ready prepared meals from a local delicatessen and easy to cook dishes or sides. All that will be required from you is to pop a few things in the oven and throw together a few ingredients to make a simple salad, or steam a few vegetables as sides to your main meal.

Perhaps you want the freedom to choose your own menus, or perhaps you'd prefer to eat out more than one evening during the week, or you just love to cook yourself and enjoy the holidays where you have time to do this in a relaxed way. That's where our à la carte contactless catering service comes in. As an alternative to the service detailed above, we will also offer a lower rate, which does not include the food and drink for the week and we will give you the opportunity to order the food and drink of your choice, at the local hypermarket rates, and bill you for this afterwards. Four days before arrival, you will receive a comprehensive provisions list with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. That might be oven-ready meals, or the ingredients you'll need for Bolognaise, Soufflés or Cheese Fondues. Dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat or fish, beers, wines, champagne, whatever, all bought for you and stocked in advance.

Our aim is to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst staying as affordable as possible. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, we are able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed at the time of booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.

**Please note that for the à la carte option, all food, drink, ski hire and lift passes come at additional costs and are not included in the chalet price. Provisions will be billed at cost price and can be ordered from the list that will be sent out to you, and ski hire and lift passes can be booked in advance with our preferential rates. For our fixed menu option, the price does not include ski hire and lift passes, but it does include breakfast and afternoon tea for 7 days, plus a 3-course dinner with beer and wine for 6 days.

We update Chalet Le Manoir's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d'Huez is very accessible from Grenoble or Chambery airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain. It is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as "...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936, and with the culmination of around 20 Million Euros of improvements due to come to fruition for 2021, there is a huge ski area to be explored. With a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers. There are plenty of wide-open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the bl...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe. It combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithy’s has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex food to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France, O’Sharkey’s is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’Huez has all of the usual culinary delights you’d expect in the mountains. To sample some traditional French food, ...

"Kids were super happy..."

Daniela P
4/ out of 5
We had a fab time on holiday and the extra nanny provided was a god send. Things were pretty hectic in our chalet but it was all good fun and the kids were all super happy. I'd like to commend Emma in particular. She was so enthusiastic and proactive that her presence in the chalet was a real breath of fresh air and made a huge difference to our holiday. Even when all the parents were around playing with the kids, she found a host of things to do from preparing food to getting the next activity ready. She was also super flexible when our plans changed and nothing seemed too much trouble. And most importantly, the kids adored her. I am not sure if you have an 'employee of the month' or similar, or whether people get recognised for their efforts and contributions in some way, but we wanted to feedback that she really was a stand out on our holiday. Once again, many thanks for everything.

This is the Lee's 3rd year here, the a Whiteheads 2nd and the Walkinshaw's first so we all had varying opinions. I think in general the whole holiday was good and well organised. For us (Lee's & Whiteheads) we felt that it was less slick than last year with a slight lacking of attention to detail, but Jon & Tamara were delightful and very pleasant chalet hosts. We will all be back!!

Natasha
5/ out of 5
Our first trip skiing with the little ones in tow - age 5 & nearly 2. The resort is perfect for beginners and the more experienced skiers alike so for us it was perfect - lots of fun skiing and sledging via the magic carpet tunnel or straight out of the chalet due to its fantastic location. Sledging down the gentle green to the sledging bowl at the bottom and getting the bus back up was a great afternoon. The team in resort were great - from Phil meeting us at Grenoble well prepared with travel sickness kit!, to Christa and her help and patience sorting, changing and changing again our ski lessons and of course Tamara and John who looked after us at 'home'. Great food for children and adults, portions adjusted for very healthy appetites thank you and plenty of delicious pain au chocolates to start the day. What really made our trip work so well was the wonderful nanny - Claire you are a treasure, happy children meant we could enjoy a half day of skiing each day totally relaxed knowing the children were having just as much fun as us, perhaps without the Follie to help though! booking again now - who's coming?

There is a great playroom at the top which the kids loved. The only negative with the chalet is the size of the boot room which is too small making it difficult for us to get out in the mornings. The chalet host and nannies were really friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.
