Chalet La Face Summary

SPACIOUS AND BRIGHT TOP FLOOR CHALET FOR 6 GUESTS

La Face is a beautiful top floor chalet apartment with lots of space and fabulous views. It is ideal for families and smaller groups. With 3 ensuite bedrooms and a large open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, Chalet La Face is always in demand.

La Face, named after the famous local Olympic ski run, is part of ‘Cacholet' chalets, built by us in 2000 and the chalet apartment itself has been totally refurbished in the last few years. New flooring, new internal stairs, new bathrooms, new beds, new lighting, etc.

The large lounge/dining area has a log fireplace and French windows which open onto a terrace overlooking the Col above Tignes. The three bedrooms all have a bath and shower, basin, wc. and balcony. Please note that rooms 1 and 3 have restricted height when showering (but obviously not when bathing!).

La Face's situation perched at the top of the building means that it gets plenty of light, with all balconies facing South and West.

Guests in La Face can take advantage of our free comprehensive shuttle service to and from the slopes in the morning and afternoon.

As a guest at Chalet La Face, you will also be welcome to make use of our two shared outdoor hot tubs and shower facilities, situated in the ‘Cacholet' courtyard.

MEALS AT Chalet La Face, Val d'Isere

Chalet board: cooked breakfast, afternoon tea and a 3-course evening meal with unlimited wine at dinner, coffee and mints 5 nights a week. Champagne reception with canapés on your first and last evenings, with canapés and locally made Methode Champenoise on every other catered evening. Cheeseboard once a week.

Breakfast

A hearty, substantial breakfast is vital before a day on the slopes so that's what we serve. Our morning feasts have really evolved over the last few years and we get lots of very positive feedback about them.

There's a tempting range of continental options, fresh crusty baguette and porridge and a full English breakfast is served on each of the 5 mornings when breakfast is served to you by your host.

No compromise is made on quality - we serve Heinz baked beans and ketchup, HP sauce and real teabags from the UK! Breakfast is served from 08.00 to 09.00.

Afternoon tea

Tuck into tempting treats after your day in the mountains. Help yourself to a freshly baked cake or biscuits which will have been made by your host. There will also be fresh baguette, jams, tea and coffee to enjoy.

Champagne and canapés

Canapés and Champagne or fizz are served at 7:30pm as you unwind and relax for the evening. Our house Champagne is Drappier. We know the Drappier family and they are one of the most respected families in Champagne who make their top quality drinks using environmentally aware methods and only the best ingredients. Drappier is served on the first and last day of your holiday.

On the other evenings we serve a "méthode Champenoise" made by our good friend and winemaker Nicolas Perret. Nicolas and family live just down the valley and provide all of our house wines too! Minimum wine miles, maximum quality!

Dinner

Dinner service is informal as we want you to feel at home in your chalet. Your chalet host will prepare and serve all your meals.

We work with local producers and suppliers to create an interesting and varied range of high quality home-made dishes.

Whilst you will never go hungry our staff have been trained in sustainability in the kitchen and we endeavour to keep food waste to a minimum.

After your three course dinner simply leave the table and relax with coffee and chocolates...if you have any room left!

Wine

We take our house wines very seriously and believe that they should be good enough to please every palate. We spend a long time each Autumn ensuring that the ones we choose are top quality, easy drinking wines. We only serve French wines in order to reduce our wine miles (or kilometres....).

We serve unlimited red, white and rose wine with dinner, from bottles not boxes! Choose your preference from the various different house wines we offer.

If you’re looking for an extra special treat we also have an upgrade Wine Lover’s Package. We have options for winter 2025-26 with packages starting at £65. We will review our house wines in the autumn for next winter.

Special diets

If there’s anything you’d rather not eat, whether for moral, sensory or digestive reasons, please let us know before you travel. We won’t charge you a penny extra for these special diets. Please contact us.

Children

We can serve dinner early for your youngsters who will likely be worn out after a day in the snow.

Your Chalet Host will prepare home-made, nutritious and fun dinners the kids will love!

Please let us know if you would like early dinner times or have special requests by calling us.

Chalet host days off

Your Chalet Host has two days off during the week (usually Tuesday and Friday). We will lay out continental breakfast and afternoon tea to help yourself.

In the evening, it’s a great chance to sample the local cuisine and your Guest Services Manager in resort will be happy to make a restaurant reservation for you.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced val-diz-air) is considered one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In the stunning Tarentaise Valley, the resort is one of France's prettiest. A huddle cosy alpine wood and stone chalets. The village dates from the 13th century with a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre. Unlike most authentic old ski towns, Val sits high at 1850m, ensuring fast access to the slopes and great snowfall throughout the season – opening ea...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. "It was really good."

John

Chalet was very cosy, the accommodation was spacious & of high quality. Transfers were on time and amazing. Chalet was excellent. Food was good, catered well for everyone, we had many dietary requirements, and they did it all for us. Walk to slopes not too difficult of a walk, up a hill. Only problem was it was up the hill. Access slightly steep for buggies. Not ideal.

"great resort, disappointing chalet"

B Adams

Location - It takes about 14mins to walk to the nursery slope and ski school in Val and about the same in the other direction to La Daille. If you prefer not to walk the free bus is a couple of minutes away at the end of the road and goes every few minutes in either direction. There is also one of the medical centres nearby! There are good views from all the chalet balconies both over to Val centre and La Daille. The resort is great for all abilities. Chalet– there may be free wifi and a few other services that are classed as 4* but the chalet is really disappointing and certainly not what I would class as 4*. First impression of the chalet as you open the door and go up the stairs are that it is well travelled. The lounge and dining area are nice, the sofas are really comfortable and it is lovely and warm with the fire going. There is, oddly, a DVD player in the lounge but no TV and the radio has 20 channels all the same with no remote to reprogram. However, you then open a bedroom door and you might as well be staying in a youth hostel. Sadly although clean the rooms are drab and basic and really let this chalet down. The carpets need either a really good deep clean or replacing as goodness knows what is ingrained on them. If you are taller than about 5’4” then make sure you take the middle room as due to the sloping ceiling (as stated) especially in the en-suites anyone taller will find it very awkward standing to use the toilet or having a shower. This could be a really great chalet if the bedrooms get a makeover. Host – the host was very welcoming and accommodating and a really nice person and did do her best but you can tell it is her first season. There were several little things that a good, more experienced host wouldn’t miss. The food was good and there was far too much of it for our group. Each meal wasn’t to everybody’s taste but we were able to swap some of the dishes around a bit as we had discussed the menu at the start of the week and that was very much appreciated. Overall I would be happy to have the same host again.
