In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"a mix of restored original features and excellently installed new ones"

Anna Bastiaenen, Lusso Magazine

“Our chalet, La Bergerie, was originally a shepherds hut that dates back to the 17th century and is a mix of restored original features and excellently installed new ones. I’m in the most-recently-spruced room and there’s no colour scheme because it’s entirely white: the floors, the curtains, the bed, the bathroom; all white. And very soft. I could probably get a very good nights sleep if I just lay right here on these squishy carpets.” (From: Lusso Magazine “Val Done You”)

“... host Luiza greets us and takes us and our bags from car to toasty chalet. We switch our snow boots for slippers and take a few moment to explore our rooms and freshen up before re-grouping for a sumptuous afternoon tea – complete with a view of a pink sun glistening on the mountains in front of the soothing crackles of the open fire.” “Massage treatments in the chalet’s dedicated treatment room and a quick soak in the hot-tub revive us from our journey, just in time for pre-dinner canapés." “I wake to a stunning sunrise vista, a welcome cup of tea and a laden breakfast table. Taking my attention away from this glistening view to make conversation is a challenge." "After a quick in chalet ski fitting for a couple of late arriving guests, we’re piste bound – which I’m delighted to find is just a few crunchy steps away.” "I opt for some chill out time with bubbles in the hot tub until dinner, which is another impressive 4 course feast paired with a fine selection of wines."
