A lovely chalet – we booked as 4 adults and you always wonder who else you’ll be staying with, but everyone got on really well which was great. We had good stay here. The chalet is a bit tired (carpets, general décor, bathroom doors sticking) and also a bit much for one chalet maid to cope with. She didn’t clean our room during the stay which was a shame. She coped well with the food though which was good. The location is excellent, it took about 5 m... + more

This package holiday to Chalet Julien in Les Arcs, France departs Saturday 14th January 2017, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

Les Arcs was established in 1968 and is located in one of the largest ski areas in the Alps. The closest airport is Chambery with a transfer time of around 2 and half hours and there are various transport links from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble too. Present day Les Arcs consists of 4 purpose built villages. The original resort, Arc 1600, was purpose built for doorstep skiing and is directly linked by a funicular from Bourg St Maurice. Arc 1800 lies to the east as you look up the mountain and is quite the contr...
The ski area has everything from gorgeous tree-lined runs to steep off-piste. For beginners, each of the 3 main Arcs has “ski tranquille” zones and the wide beginner runs leading to the resort have gentle gradients that are perfect for practicing after ski school. There are also magic carpets at 1800 and 2000 - an easy way for beginners to get up the mountain without having to tackle button lifts. A number of runs are accessible via free beginner lifts, including a short lift at the bottom of Arc 1800. The ...
If you’re looking for a party, Arc 1800 is definitely the liveliest village in resort. It has previously been home to the legendary Snowbombing festival and has loads of bars and restaurants to choose between. Amongst its best is the Red hot saloon bar, known locally as the “Red Bar”. If you’re looking for more of a French style après bar, Ambiente has a really cool atmosphere and lots of nice cocktails while Le club 1950 is the place to be if you’re looking to party into the small hours. Arc 1600 is a lit...

"Lovely chalet, great location"

Nikki Sharpe
4/ out of 5
A lovely chalet – we booked as 4 adults and you always wonder who else you’ll be staying with, but everyone got on really well which was great. Apart from a bit of a steep climb on some steps, the location was fantastic. You could get from the chalet to the piste in about 3 minutes. Everything was literally on our doorstep – the funicular (3 minutes away) which takes you down to 1950, where there are lots of bars and restaurants runs until midnight, so it was all accessible. Our chalet girl was great. We enjoyed nice, home cooked food: cooked and continental breakfasts, homemade cakes for afternoon tea and everything from steak to duck for dinner. Our bedrooms were fine – small and compact but with enough room to store everything. The pool was good to relax in at the end of the day!

"Wonderful views"

She didn’t clean our room during the stay which was a shame. She coped well with the food though which was good. The location is excellent, it took about 5 minutes to get to the button lift. The chalet has fantastic views. We booked late so didn’t get to choose our room, but you can enjoy the views from the lounge which is lovely.

We enjoyed the Chalet Julien, chalets are all similar aren’t they, but this was our second chalet holiday and we liked it. The location was good, the slopes weren’t too far away, though you did have to walk a little bit before you reached them. In a lot of chalets you come out of the door and straight onto the slopes but that wasn’t the case here. The food was ok, all of the party found it alright so there are no complaints!
