Overview - chalet description - Chalet Hotel Alba description

Welcome to the Chalet Hotel Alba, Meribel

We are delighted to offer families this lovely, high quality Chalet Hotel in a prime location in this ever popular, prestige resort. The Alba has been a well known hotel in its own right for many years and many Méribel afficionados will already be familiar with its location, style and ambience. Offering comfort and convenience, now combined with our established Chalet Hotel services, the Alba is hugely popular and we look forward to welcoming further families to the wonder of the Three Valleys.

Location, location, location!
The Chalet Hotel Alba is ideally situated just above the main hub of the resort, yet right on the edge of the slopes at Méribel’s ‘Rond Point’, a familiar landmark in the Three Valleys. Everything is geared towards making life as easy as possible for our guests, with the main piste just across the street, a ski-bridge to bring you back virtually to the ski-room door, and equipment hire from the shop immediately beneath the Alba, so collection, return and any mid-week changes are easily arranged.

There are also several restaurants and après ski cafés close by and the bus to and from the village centre runs till 11.45pm.

Ski Area Access
The Alba really is the perfect choice for families who want to hit the slopes with the minimum of fuss and in the shortest possible time! The magic carpet nursery area for our Spritelets classes is just 50m away. The ‘Doron’ blue run outside the Alba takes skiers straight down to the resort centre and main lifts, opening up access from there to the whole of the Three Valleys. Alternatively you can take the Adret chairlift from just below the Rond Point and start your skiing day from there.

At the end of your day, returning to the Alba on skis couldn’t be easier, either from the Saulire side of the Three Valleys down the Marmotte and Doron slopes, or, if you end up in the resort centre, the Rhodos 1 gondola will bring you straight back ‘home’ to the Rond Point.

Comfortable Hotel Facilities
The Alba has thoroughly charming communal rooms, with the lounge and bar attractively furnished with rich fabrics, comfy seating and a feature fireplace to warmly welcome skiers home after long ski day. This provides the perfect ambience for a refreshing après-ski cocktail, and for enjoying evening apéritifs and canapés.

The atmospheric dining-room has picture windows overlooking the large sun-terrace, which in turn looks out over the Doron slopes, the Rond Point and across the scenic Méribel valley.

The Alba also has its own adults-only wellness area on the lower ground floor, with a sauna, steam-room and whirlpool spa-bath affording parents a relaxing haven in which to unwind and relax after the day’s exertions.

Our staff provide a hot and cold buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and our ‘Culinary Choice’ evening menu, whilst our Baby-Listening/Child-Patrol Service, running till 11pm, allows parents to relax in good company over coffee and liqueurs after dining. Children’s high tea is served at 5.30pm and supervised by our staff till 6pm.

We are pleased to be able to offer a complete range of room-styles here to suit most families, from a couple with a baby to sets of rooms for larger families, sleeping up to six.

Refurbishments Over the summer we aim to paint the Wellness Spa and refurbish the boot room plus wallpapering and panting the dining room.  New carpets will be fitted in all public corridors and many bedrooms.

Meals - food and drink in Chalet Hotel Alba

With a skiers’ buffet breakfast to start your day, afternoon tea to welcome you ‘home’, and 4- or 5-course evening meals with wine and coffee included to complete the evening, our chalets and Chalet Hotels provide by far the best value accommodation in the Alps!

We set high standards for our cuisine, and train our staff extensively before the season starts, to ensure that guests will enjoy every meal with us.

For six days of the week in both chalets and Chalet Hotels, our staff prepare all your meals for you. The majority of parents feel that young children can inhibit the dinner-party atmosphere at evening meals, especially if they are over-tired, so children under 13 years are served High Tea at around 5.30pm in our chalets and Chalet Hotels alike. They are not then permitted to join adult dinner, as they are generally happier either getting some rest ready for tomorrow’s adventures, or if 6 years old or more, joining our child care staff in Cocoa Club.

On their one day off per week, your host in chalets will prepare a Continental-style breakfast which will be left for you to help yourselves, whilst in Chalet Hotels, a full buffet breakfast will still be served to you as normal. That evening, you and your family then have the chance to eat out in one of the local cafés or restaurants, which your Representative will be happy to help you arrange.

Breakfast

A good breakfast is essential on a ski holiday, so we provide our chalet guests a choice of cereals or porridge, fruit juices, plentiful tea, coffee and bread (and croissants in France), cold meats, cheese and preserves, and boiled eggs. This is normally presented buffetstyle for you to help yourself.

In addition to all the above, our Chalet Hotels and NEW this year in all our chalets, a hot dish, such as scrambled eggs on toast, or home-made pancakes with maple syrup is also offered.

Piste Picnics

Our Chalet Hotel teams can also prepare a packed lunch for you on request, at a small local charge. For those keen to keep their Eurospending to an absolute minimum, this is the ideal way to keep your costs down!

Afternoon Tea

The traditional ‘welcome home’ after a day on the slopes will be laid out for you in your chalet or Chalet Hotel, ready for your return, every day except the team’s one day off each week. A good cup of tea or coffee is the perfect accompaniment to a delicious slice of freshly home-baked cake – different every day and our Chalet Hotels also feature a selection of cakes for you to choose from.

Children’s High Tea

High Tea provides children under 13 with a healthy menu, but tailored more towards children’s tastes than our main adult dinner, and puréed food is also always available for infants on request. Parents are asked to accompany their children under 36 months at High Tea please, whilst children from 3-12 years will be supervised by staff.

Adult Dinner in Chalets

In all our chalets, our four-course dinners for adults (and children 13 and over only) start with canapés and an apéritif, followed by an appetiser, main course and dessert. The meal is accompanied by a choice of wines, unlimited during the meal service, with freshly chilled water also always available, and followed by complimentary coffee or tea with chocolates to round off your evening.

Special Diets

Vegetarian options are always on our ‘Culinary Choice’ menu in our Chalet Hotels, and are available in our chalets if you advise us in advance. Other special diets can generally be catered for at a cost of £35 per person per week. Any dietary requirements must be advised to us at the time of booking in order for us to be fully prepared.

Family Dining Chalets

For those families who prefer to eat together with their younger children, we offer our Family Dining option in any chalet of up to 12 beds, if you book the whole chalet for your own party, subject to chalet suitability. Everyone then eats together in the evening, starting at 6.30-7.00pm. The meals are based on our adult menus, with some flexibility for younger taste buds, although not a complete ‘à la carte’ choice!

The additional charge for changing meals to Family Dining is £39 per child.

We update Chalet Hotel Alba's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

This package holiday to Chalet Hotel Alba in Meribel & Mottaret, France departs Sunday 8th January 2017, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many British hearts – not simply because it’s slap bang in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

As its heart shaped logo suggests, Meribel prides itself in its location at the very centre of the Three Valleys. British made and predominantly British run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a home-from-home atmosphere with a fantastic range of skiing and snowboarding terrain in a picturesque location. The resort consists of gorgeous alpine hamlets made up of traditional wood and stone buildings and surrounded by woodland. The main area is Les Allues (usually known just as Meribel). A char...
With three beginner areas known as ‘Zen Zones' plus some good greens to practice on including Le Foret, Altiport and the Cool Moon area (specifically located so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings), Meribel is great if you're skiing for the first time. If you're skiing with little ones there are fantastic ski schools and families really appreciate Meribel for its child-orientated sections, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees. Moon Wild is a special area where children ca...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes will be as varied as the days spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It’s said that you haven't experienced après ski here until you've sampled toffee vodka... we say the only real “must do” is Le Rond Point, which is perhaps the most famous après ski bar in the world. Meribel is rightly famous for its night life with a variety of pubs, bars and clu...
