Chalet Bruyere Summary

A classic chalet

Bruyere is an absolute classic catered ski chalet. A beautiful stone and wood-clad exterior leads to your classic Alpine interiors – cosy red textiles, wooden panelling, an open fire, and big windows to take in all the views. Chalet Bruyere is so great, it’s been awarded the Label Méribel (indicating the highest standards of chalets in Méribel).

Hot tub and more

Not only does the chalet look great, it’s got a lot to tick off the ski holiday checklist: open-plan lounge with fireplace, separate TV room, hot tub out on a terrace, six en-suite bedrooms, and a private shuttle service to drive you to the slopes!

Chalet Bruyere is located in the hamlet of Le Raffort on the road up to Méribel. It’s just 150m from the Olympic gondola station that will whisk you up the hill to the main lifts that depart from Méribel in a matter of minutes. At the end of your day, you can ski or ride down the Raffort (blue) run to within 150 metres of the chalet.

Private mini-bus

For guests in this chalet, we offer a private mini-bus service to and from the slopes. Service available from 8.30–6.30pm Sunday to Friday.

Families: Chalet Bruyere for children

Family-Friendly Chalets

As much as many of you would love to palm the kids off to the grandparents in order to jet off to the Alps for a week of care-free skiing and apres-ski hedonism, we all know that this is, alas, not always an option. Not every year anyway! Fortunately, we love hosting kids! And so we do everything we can to make sure families stay happy and that the process is as smooth as possible for everyone.

Breakfast for Champions

First things first, we like to make sure the little’uns are well-fed. For the babies, we are happy to purée food and provide you with highchairs. At breakfast, the bigger boys and girls are welcome to a plate of scrambled eggs, or a bacon and egg muffin, or whatever the hot option is that the ‘bigger kids’ are having. But, more often than not, we find they prefer tucking into cereal, bowls of porridge, yoghurts, croissants, or pain au chocolats. We shall also provide plenty of fresh fruit so that you can look good in front of any other parents staying in the chalet with young children!

Well Fed

On your return to the chalet after a day on the slopes, there’ll be a smorgasbord of breads and spreads alongside a home-made cake and drinks aplenty. For dinner, we offer an early sitting for the children and they will be fed a two-course, freshly-cooked, kids’ menu, chosen in advance by you. Please see below for the numerous options, but please be aware we can only cook one main and ‘pud’ option per evening for all children.

MEALS AT Chalet Bruyere, Meribel & Mottaret

Eat well

The first rule of hospitality is that nothing upsets a guest more than over-promising and under-delivering. This is key when it comes to cooking in a chalet. However, as all good catered chalet companies know, the quickest way to your heart is through your stomach!

Tasty and homely

The feedback we have received since we started serving guests in 2010, has helped to define our philosophy on food. The food you will be served will not be fine-dining fare but, it will be homely, plentiful, well-executed and very, very tasty. And the ongoing feedback we now receive suggests that we are hitting the spot! We recognise that if you’re going to be doing a lot of exercise on the ski hill each day, you’re going to want food to match.

Inspired variety

That said, this is your well-deserved holiday and a big bowl of pasta pesto isn’t going to cut it (no disrespect to pasta pesto, let us know if you specifically want pasta pesto!) so, in our chalet food, we aim to include lots of variety and draw our inspiration from far and wide. Unlike many catered chalet companies who prescribe a set menu, each of our hosts and chefs develop their own menus – so you’ll get a little bit of their character in your meals too.

Everybody has a different approach to drinking on a ski holiday; hence the alcohol policy has been difficult to define. Restricting each person to half a bottle of wine per night seems frugal, on the other hand, giving guests the keys to the cellar could drink us dry!

And so, with the addition of welcome drinks and bubbly on the first night, we ensure that beer and wine are free-flowing from the minute you kick off your ski boots in the late afternoon, up until the end of dinner.

Our current wines are listed, but we will update them each season. We’re also stocking up our cellar with some special wines that can be bought in addition to your chalet wine.

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"The chalet was very comfortable."

Staff were amazing! Couldn’t rate them highly enough. Communication was second to none. Manager would come round and make sure we were ok and that everything was going well. The rooms were not massively spacious but this wasn’t an issue. Generally very good. We didn’t have any issues. There was a run quite close, but we had a private taxi which made it very easy getting into town/ getting to the slopes. Amazing value for money. Best chalet operator we have been with! Would go again!
