Chalet Appaloosa Summary

Chalet Appaloosa is a lovely chalet that sits perched above the town, just a short walk up the hill from Rue de la Balme and our other Val d’Isère chalets. It is built into the steep hillside so offers enticing views across the resort.

Chalet Appaloosa is spread over five floors (there is a lift to all of them except the mezzanine!) with the sleeping accommodation distributed over two. The rooms are generously sized, most with a seating area, ensuite bathroom and a balcony. On the lowest floor, there is even a wellness area that has a large hot-tub and a steam room.

The communal areas are in two parts with dining room situated next to the open-plan kitchen. Up the stairs on the mezzanine and under the eaves, you will find the soft seating where you can relax around the fireplace.

The bus stop is conveniently situated approx. 100m away from Chalet Appaloosa at the bottom of the hill from where you can take Val d’Isère’s excellent bus service to the slopes and into town. Alternatively, the village centre is a 4 minute walk and it’s a 10 minute walk to the Solaise and Bellevarde lifts.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced val-diz-air) is considered one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In the stunning Tarentaise Valley, the resort is one of France's prettiest. A huddle cosy alpine wood and stone chalets. The village dates from the 13th century with a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre. Unlike most authentic old ski towns, Val sits high at 1850m, ensuring fast access to the slopes and great snowfall throughout the season – opening ea...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. "Great chalet."

Nicky
5/ out of 5
The chalet was great, fun being in a shared chalet for the first time, my sons got on well with the staff and they all went out for a few drinks in town together while I enjoyed the guests company in the chalet. It was my first experience of a catered chalet, as someone who normally does the cooking it was great to have the week off and feel like I was on holiday, the food was very good and my two sons who eat a lot did not go hungry. It was a short easy walk away from the slopes, it gave you a chance to warm the legs up before the first run of the day. We booked quite last minute and managed to get a really good deal.

"Brilliant location"
