Tignes (pronounced 'Teens' by Brits and 'Teenya' by the French) is one half of the vast ‘Tignes-Val d'Isere’ ski area, one of the biggest linked domains in France. High-altitude terrain and Grande Motte glacier skiing ensure the resort both opens earlier in the ski season and also closes later than most resorts, and we’ve even seen lifts running for stints of summer skiing. Split into 5 purpose-built villages with distinct characters, it's well linked by pistes, lifts and free buses. Tignes Le Lac (aka Tignes...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"Chef was great "

Chef and chalet host were fantastic. Chef was great - did impress kids’ food which was went down well and the adults really enjoyed their meals. Chalet host was also great. Some disconnect between residence coordinator and the chalet host, which could be improved for a better experience. Had issues with boot warmers which did not get fixed. If you don’t need lessons, the access is much closer Can ski back to close to the chalet. Bit of a walk (which we knew about) to the ski school lessons in town – 10 min walk roughly. More suited to older crowd
