Location: where is Chalet Alysson

Convenient Location – Located in the Morel area of Meribel, just above the town centre, this chalet offers convenient access. It's less than a 10-minute downhill walk to the main part of Meribel, or, as the Ligne C bus stop is only 100 metres from the chalet, it is possible to opt for the free resort buses, which run frequently and take about three minutes. In the morning, it's a 250-meter walk to reach the Morel chairlift, providing easy access to the Altiport area for a day of skiing. For those with morning lessons at La Chaudanne, the free resort bus can take you there. Plus, the chalet's location allows for skiing, via the Hulotte piste, right back to the door (not advised for beginners).

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Alysson description

Lovely Setting – Chalet Alysson is a homely and roomy free-standing chalet located away from the noise of the main road, yet only 5 minutes to the Morel chairlift, and with the ability to ski back to the front door (not total beginners). It's the perfect base to start and finish your day on the slopes.

Bright and Welcoming – The chalet is full of traditional charm, built in keeping with Savoyarde style by the owner. After a day on the snow, why not relax in the sauna, or unwind in front of the fire in the open-plan sitting/dining room characterised by the ceiling with exposed wooden beams? Or perhaps you would rather enjoy an aperitif on the wrap-around terrace and watch the sun go down. Either way, the chalet offers ample space for all guests to enjoy.

Versatile Personality – The chalet comprises six ensuite twin bedrooms. For larger groups, Chalet Azalee, located next door, provides additional accommodation, offering the possibility to book both chalets together. Your ski gear can be easily stored in the large boot room, complete with a heated boot rack.

This package holiday to Chalet Alysson in Meribel & Mottaret, France departs Saturday 14th December 2024, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"Chalet Alysson during Christmas 2013"

Paul Hooper
5/ out of 5
We especially appreciated the flapjacks and water on the airport transfer coach and the chalet hosts who met us at the end of the road and helped with our luggage. Meals and afternoon tea at the Chalet were superb, plentiful and beautifully presented by our hosts Quinton and Lauren. We loved the kir with canapes, cheese board and selection of bottled wines. Nothing was too much trouble and any dietary request we made was accommodated and we were very well looked after. The chalet was very clean and warm but would benefit by the addition of some further personal touches by the owner. It was a bit squashed for 13 people in the living area. Boot warmers and and a sauna made all the difference after a hard days ski-ing. We would definitely return to this chalet as the hosting, food and wine was the best in Meribel after six years of experiencing various companies...

The chalet was spacious and clean and in a great location although you did have to be somewhat proficient to ski back to the chalet. Lauren and Quinton made the stay more pleasurable with their superb combined cooking and hosting skills.

"Our fantastic hosts"

Albert ThatBigFatCat
5/ out of 5
Lauren and Quinton were both exceptional hosts, possibly the best all round in 20+ years of chalet skiing. The food was really good, the right balance of wholesome and richness, and both were friendly but also extremely professional with a real commitment to provide excellent service making sure we had a great time. They were also very flexible in giving our children choices of food, helping to keep everyone happy. The chalet itself was great, bedrooms were spacious (compared to many I have seen), and just close enough to the Morel chair. The other Alpine Action staff, in resort and in the UK office were all friendly and efficient. I also really liked the small touches. Water and flap jack on the coach, water and tissues in the Chalet.

"Another superb week in Meribel"

David Checketts
5/ out of 5
Just returned from another great week in Chalet Alysson, Meribel. Our hosts Lauren & Quinton went to great lengths to make sure that we had a wonderfully relaxing time in the chalet. All of the dishes served for dinner were winners and better than normal chalet offerings. Unlike our stay in 2013, when it snowed for 5 days out of 6, we also saw the sun on each and every day this year. With good weather, accommodation, food, company and snow conditions, what more can you ask for? The chalet company do offer a very good service from the moment that you make initial contact to the point where you say goodbye at the airport. Rooms are relatively spacious for a chalet and the bathrooms are also 'full size'. Chalet Alysson is in a quiet location but both the bus and the nearest chairlift are only a short walk away. If I had to pick up on anything, the minibus journey could be more comfortable. Perhaps it's the mountain roads that are bad but the constant jolting of the spine was not pleasant.

"It's the little things that make the difference"

Anne Peterson

With an early start from Gatwick the coach transfer always seem tedious as you often feel hungry. Sophie came round with homemade flapjacks and water which was a 'little' extra that was greatly appreciated. Once in resort we met our chalet hosts, Lauren and Quentin, who turned out to be a great team throughout our stay. Lauren was lovely - really friendly, efficient and quick to respond to any request whilst Quentin's culinary skills were 'restaurant' quality both in taste and presentation. There were other 'little' touches during our stay that made a difference - the bottle of Evian and Kleenex tissues on arrival, bath towels that actually covered my body and good quality wines (not vinegar masquerading as wine) served with each meal. Chalet Alysson has a great lounge area - the furniture is more up to date and cosier than the website displays and the size is perfect for pre and post dinner chat and getting to know your fellow guests. We had superb weather during our week so the large sunny verandah surrounding the living/dining area was an added bonus and most days found us sitting in the sun with a cup of tea looking up at the snowy slopes :) The Chalet is tucked away down a quiet cul-de-sac with a short walk up to the Morel lift with access to the Altiport and beyond or you can take the bus down to Meribel Centre and Chaudanne or it's a 10 minute walk down to the centre.
