Ah Easter skiing… long warm days, the smell of spring in the air, goggle tans and Swiss chocolate eggs galore… there’s really never a better time for a mountain holiday. The best part though, if it’s Saas Fee you’re visiting, is that you can enjoy snow sure skiing till late in season, right till the end of April most years. There are very few resorts with the snow reliability that the glacier here provides, and unlike here, in other places you probably won’t be able to ski all the way back down to the village. What’s more, the Saas valley lies in the very south of Switzerland and in one of the sunniest areas: on average there are 300 days of sun every year, so prepare to kick back, relax, grab a beer or a hot chocolate and enjoy it sitting out on the terrace of one of the local restaurants while you take in the stunning views (there are over thirteen 4000m peaks surrounding the resort). For those travelling with young ones in tow, there’s an excellent nursery area with magic carpets and a mini slalom run where they can show off what they’ve learnt at the end of the trip. You can also take the family to the local ice rink, the indoor swimming pool or go sledging together on one of several toboggan runs.
