See in the New Year Scandi-style in lovely Vemdalen. It feels fabulously festive here at the end of December, with colourful wood-built villages, pine forests, reindeer and a blanket of brilliant white snow.
The resort often hosts the Vemdalen Midwinter Show in the lead up to the New Year, with Big Air Bag competitions, ski tests and torchlit walks. New Year’s Eve celebrations usually begin with family events at 7pm, mark midnight with fireworks then continue with bars staying open into the early hours for DJ music and dancing.
With the ski areas often opening in November, there’s usually a good build-up of snow by New Year’s week (helped by snow cannons on more than 80% of the pistes). Temperatures are low at this time of year, and daylight hours limited – but that won’t hinder your skiing thanks to floodlighting, and means you’re in for a chance of seeing the awesome Northern Lights, Mother Nature’s very own light show.
A package with your apartment or hotel accommodation, flights and airport transfers comes ATOL covered and saves you the time and money of arranging things separately.
