Clean, all facilities you need, just a bit small

Reviewed 3 Jun 2014

The apartments were very good but they were a wee bit cramped for four of us. The kitchen area was quite small but we managed to cook most nights, getting food was easy as there’s a wee shopping mall just around the corner. It wasn’t too bad to get to the nearest lift which has access to different levels of slopes for different people and there was a bus stop nearby which would take you to Plagne Centre.

1800 was too quiet but actual apt was fine

One of the things that made us pick these apartments was that they have access to the outdoor pool, we’ve swam in outdoor pools in Austria before which are lovely – like huge hot tubs, but this was absolutely freezing! So cold we tried twice and had to give up.
The apartment itself was fine, pretty basic but you’d expect that and they were certainly clean enough. If you had more than 4 people it would be too much of a squeeze, it was just about ok for 3 of us (we weren’t in the very biggest option but the second one down).
The location was disappointing, we’ve skied at La Plagne lots of times and the year before we were in Plagne Soleil which is a little off the beaten track but you have bars, restaurants, shops and ski shops. Plagne 1800 is pretty remote and the Spar shop there is the most basic I’ve seen. There was one pizza place which was the canteen, it was fine but that was it. It’s a bit of a walk down and back up the hill if you don’t want to wait for the bus.
I suppose you could say that one bonus is that this is the quiet bit of the mountain... there just wasn’t quite enough going on for our liking and I wouldn’t go back.

Fantastic apartments!

We got a last minute deal and paid an amazing price, it was impressive value. We did decide to upgrade when we got there to a larger apartment and got one of the penthouse apartments which was lovely. They have just refurbished them and ours was spacious and ultra-modern with everything you need. They aren’t ski in / ski out but they are at the bottom of the slopes, and you could walk to the piste in 5 minutes, tops. There was an outdoor heated pool at the nearby hotel which we used pretty much every day. There were lots of Russians at the pool, I think that hotel must attract Russians. There weren’t any lifts so we had to walk up to the fourth floor every day after skiing. There was a nice bar nearby and the supermarket was on the doorstep.
