Had a fantastic time in Avoriaz. Millie and Jenni were great hosts, food and drink was excellent. The apartment is lovely and in a fantastic location.

The apartment was lovely and very comfortable and it felt very much like home from home. We had the two bedroom suite downstairs and the main room had the most amazing views, although our friend in room 2 wasn’t quite so lucky as it only had a small window! However both rooms and bathroom were of a high standard with plenty of storage, hot water and very comfortable beds. We were also blessed with the best week’s skiing so far this season and being able to ski in and out added to our pleasure. We also fell in love with Avoriaz, having only previously seen it on brief visits – it really is a very pretty resort with great facilities on the doorstep. The transfer went well with the exeption of coming into Terminal 1 at Geneva, then having to walk to Terminal 2 to het our bags! - not the chalet companies fault though. Our chalet host, Hugo attended to our needs although, (and I must admit our first chalet host experience with this company was exemplary), we did feel that he could have done with a bit more assistance, not least that he worked more functionally rather than really engaged with his guests. We were aware though, that he’d been brought in from another chalet to cover sickness so it may have been a bit alien for him to work alone. The food was good but not exceptional (as in our previous chalet). Portion control was varied and the bacon and tomato each morning was always cold for some reason. We also ran out of tea bags on the chalet staff night off (I got some in from another penthouse) but when it was mentioned to Hugo there was no apology which would have been welcomed. Alys, our resort manager, was very good though and her short story about us all at the end of the holiday was excellent – a novelist in the making! A couple of niggles – too much noise coming from the open plan kitchen in the morning whilst we were trying to sleep, a locker too small to hold 9 pairs of skis – the other penthouses had the same size locker for far less people and we resorted to leaving our skis in the hall. Also no boot warmer. So all in all it was a good week, although, sadly, it did not live up to the exemplary holiday we’d had with the same company in Val d’Isere a couple of years ago.

Great experience, and very pleased with Hugo and the Penthouse. Only negatives were that room 2 has very little storage – nowhere to hang a shirt properly, all the other rooms have much more storage. It would be nice to have boot warmers, as would be expected at this level of properties. Penthouse building lifts were much better than anticipated – I thought this would be a bottleneck, but we never had to wait long. Hugo worked very hard throughout the week. We will definitely be back again next year.
