Chalet Monet 2016

Reviewed 27 May 2016

The chalet was fine. It was very accessible, we liked the food and the staff were fine. The bedroom (room 8) was adequate, with slightly restricted sloping beam ceiling. It was fine for us but anyone over 5 foot 8 might have knocked their heads in the night. The social areas were more than enough to fit everyone in the chalet.
The only problems we really had were the transfers. On the transfer up the driver hit the bus on a barrier going up the mountain. On the way back, we had a fairly early flight but the pick-up was ridiculously early. There was another coach going an hour later so we asked if we could be on that instead, the rep came back almost immediately saying no as the coach was full. After 2 hours at the airport we met people from the second coach, and they told us there had been plenty of free seats which was really annoying.

A great holiday in Chalet Monet

Reviewed 13 Apr 2015

Compared to my hotel holiday in Serre Chevalier last year, Chalet Monet was much better. The group of people I stayed with were perfectly nice, we were a big group of around 20 including a family and some small groups of 2’s, 3’s and 4’s – everyone got on very well and I didn’t feel at all pressured or left out as a solo traveller.

The Monet is literally five minute walk to where everyone kept their boots and skis, we could have kept them in the chalet’s dry room but we ended up using the ski hire shop which was right by the gondola. The chalet’s at one end of the town and the first shop and pub were about 50 yards down the road, which then stretched a mile down to the other end of the town with more bars and restaurants along the way.

The food was very well prepared, very posh looking and well presented. Not all of the meals were to my taste but they were always well cooked with good sized portions. There were hosts on hand and it was so nice to just be able to ask if you wanted extra portions or anything else.

The hosts and reps were very well organised and did a ‘Les Gets by night’ pub crawl, a quiz night and helped us find a nice meal on the chalet host’s night off – there was something you could do every night but there were no obligations to do so if you didn’t want to. I would definitely recommend a chalet holiday, the problem I found with the hotel I stayed in previously was that once you’d had dinner people would just go back to their rooms so you’d lose the ambiance. In a chalet you really get to know the people there as well as meeting people from other chalets on the organised events that you can then say hello to when you’re on the slopes.

Chalet Monet was great! We were close to the slopes and well looked after and catered for. The staff were all very helpful.

Right at the heart of a lovely little ski town

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

This bright and airy chalet is set in an ideal location and within a short walk to the lifts but crucially, also right in the heart of Les Gets, which is one of the friendliest little mountain towns in the French alps. After a long day skiing you can enjoy the private spa outside (check before booking) or wander into town for Chartreuse after supper. The hosts here are fantastic, providing multi-course dinners with a good quality wine selection to end the day.
