Six of us stayed in Chalet Caribou in Courchevel 1650 in March this year.
The bedrooms were really spacious, nicely decorated and very comfy beds. All with en-suite bathroom. The communal area was also nicely decorated with comfy sofas, open fireplace, tv and kitchen/dining area. On the ground floor was the boot room with boot warmers. Below in the basement area was a steam room which we all enjoyed each evening. A really attractive compact chalet and very comfy and user friendly overall. The chalet company provided a chalet host. Our young host was an excellent cook who managed to cater to our various dietary requirements without a problem. (The quality of wine with dinner was above average for a catered chalet). She was efficient, friendly and polite and kept the chalet spotless. The location was excellent. Just a short walk up a sloping road (although this may prove more difficult if it was covered in snow which it wasn’t on this particular week) to the main village road (a good warm up for the day ahead) then across to the ski locker room, then out to the ski lift. All very straightforward.
The village had lots of nice shops and bars and a small market a couple of days during the week, There’s a good choice of restaurants to enjoy on the chalet hosts’ days off.
We all said we would definitely choose this chalet again if it was available for the dates we chose. I would rate this as a 4 star chalet. The reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is probably its size which myself and my friends were happy with but a 5 star might give people a higher expectation. Also, a 5 star for me would be doorstop skiing. (Ski in ski out).
