Christmas is a magical time of year here in Passo Tonale; where you can skate frozen lakes, plough through the snow on husky-drawn sleighs, and enjoy sizzling fondues by the fire - all surrounded by the snow-capped fir trees of Christmas dreams…
If it's anything like recent years, the local restaurants will serve up festive feasts of gargantuan proportions with several seasonal touches. Sip on a merry glass of vin brule (mulled wine) or the Italian's version of eggnog, Bombardino, in the bar of your choice (Nico's and Magic are two favourites).
If you're booking a hotel, many will hold a gala dinner on the big day, letting you relax with family and friends while the hard work's done for you.
As for the mountains, spend your Christmas here and you'll enjoy some of Italy's best skiing conditions. The slopes reach a lofty 3016m up on the glacier and Passo's lifts usually open earlier than other resorts, so everything should be in ship-skiing-shape by the end of December.
