Cortina has so much to attract families and groups of all kinds at February half term. For starters there’s the excellent ski area which usually experiences the best snowfall of the season during the weeks building up to half term. There are two excellent children’s snow parks – the Guargnè sector to the north of the town has fun inflatables and a ski school, and the Baby Socrepes area at the base of Tofana has plenty of easy beginner skiing. You’ll find loads of cosy Refuges dotted around the ski resort to retreat to if the weather turns. Similarly if it’s sunny you might want to enjoy some lunch or a hot chocolate on one of the many mountain huts’ terraces, where you can bask in the beauty of the scenery and lounge in a deckchair. Two of our favourite huts are Rifugio Averau and Rifugio Scoiattoli, which offers stunning views of the Cinque Torri from their terraces.

The town manages to retain a lovely relaxed Italian feel as it doesn’t get overrun by tourists at this time of year, but make no mistake there’s plenty to do here. You’ll find a wealth of other activities to keep children, teens and non-skiers occupied. Try one of the local toboggan runs, or go ice skating together at the huge Olympic stadium. You can also visit the sweet little Eden cinema in town or go shopping at one of the many boutiques.
