Panorama's famously friendly atmosphere is always true to the spirit of Christmas, which makes it perfect for anyone who wants seriously good skiing on the mountain and a laid back but festive vibe back in town.
There are usually all kinds of festive activities to keep everyone amused and the icing on the (Christmas) cake is the fact that the resort is actually village sized, which makes everything easy to get to and gives the place a cosy, intimate feel.
In past years, photos with Santa have been available for children outside the Great Hall. There’s usually a variety of craft activities ranging from gingerbread house making to ornament painting and whether you can sing or not, you can get into the festive spirit and join in the carols by candlelight (hot chocolate is usually included if you need an incentive!). Most years, a Christmas Eve service takes place on the summit, where there are spectacular views of over 1000 peaks of the Rockies.
On the big day itself, Panorama has a tradition of hosting a Christmas dinner in the Great Hall. If you want to cook up your own feast, we have some fantastic condo's here, from studios to one and two bedroom apartments. The majority are a short walk to the lifts and some are even ski-in/ski-out. Opt for a hotel if you want to escape the housework this Christmas - basting the Turkey will be a thing of the past as most hotels put on their own gala dinner on Christmas day.
Of course it’s not just the celebrations and food that make this place so amazing. The ski area includes 120 runs in total, 24 for beginners and around half for intermediates. The Extreme Dream Zone and Tanyton Bowl have some serious expert runs with a variety of steeps, chutes and glades.
December is naturally a cold month in Canada so pick up some good thermals while you’re doing the Christmas shopping. Fresh falls of snow are common at this time of year with the snow depth historically averaging 70-90cm around Christmas time. The runs are excellently groomed and thousands of gallons of water is used to create artificial snow on 40% of them, so you should have some top quality skiing.
