· idyllic woodland location in West Ruka · 5 minutes' walk to the ski bus stop · 25 minutes' uphill walk to Ruka village and the main ski lifts · 15 minutes' bus ride to the Vuosseli slopes in East Ruka, ski school area and Rosa and Rudolph Snow Park
Please note: Rukakongas (Type D) and Otsonpiha (Type E) cabins are approximately 3km, or 30 minutes walk from each other. There is a bus that runs between the two, but is only available once an hour between the hours of 9.15am and 6pm. The bus from Rukakongas to Otsonpiha takes approximately 5 minutes, whereas the bus from Otsonpiha to Rukakongas lasts around 20 minutes. This is due to the bus following a circular route.
The Ruka Log Cabins are the accommodation of choice for anyone looking for the ultimate Finnish experience. Traditionally built and furnished, the cabins are nestled in an idyllic woodland setting - ideal for those who like peace and privacy but don’t want to be too far from the centre.
It’s a 5-minute walk to the ski bus stop and a 25-minute uphill walk to the resort centre – good for warming up in the morning but it might be a challenge if you’re travelling with small children. On the other hand, you can take advantage of the hill and sledge back down to your cabin at the end of the day.
The open log fire and drying cabinet means that both you and your clothes will always be warm and cosy, even in the freezing temperatures that Finland is famous for. And you can always visit the private sauna for an extra burst of heat.
Spacious living areas and full kitchens mean these cabins are perfect for families and groups of friends. The supermarket is a 25-minutes walk (or short bus ride) away and it's reasonably priced, so you can avoid the high restaurant prices in Ruka by cooking at home. Evenings can be spent relaxing in front of the fire, or maybe trying to spy the Northern Lights out of the window – but you can still head into town if you fancy a night out.
Check-in time is at 4pm. However, if your transfer arrives before check-in time, you will be dropped off in Ruka's village centre. From here, you will need to take the free ski bus to your cabin for the designated check-in time. Check-out is at 12pm. If your transfer coach is scheduled after 12pm, you will need to make your own way to the village centre, via the free ski bus, in order to be collected.
