The Samokov’s a simple pick which is ideal if you want to do Borovets on a budget, and still get a top-notch location. You'll no doubt feel like you're in an older hotel here, with some spaces and facilities that cry out for a bit of a refresh. But being in the centre of the resort and just steps from the main Yastrebets gondola, it's hard to beat if skiing, exploring the wider resort and saving pennies are your top priorities.

There are plenty of places to hang out when you’re not on the slopes. Swing by the lobby bar for a tipple or two, swim a few lengths in the big indoor pool, or pay a little extra to stretch out in the spa's Turkish bath and variety of saunas. There's even a bowling alley and a small indoor archery room, if you fancy adding target practise to your off-slope activities.

For the best room experience, go for one with a balcony – waking up to fresh air and views of the mountains is a winner. On the food front, you'll get a basic buffet breakfast spread included. With lots of tempting restaurants nearby, it's easy to find something to tickle your taste buds in the evening.
