· 2 minutes’ walk to the centre of the resort · next to the train station · 10 minutes’ train ride to the Eiger Express cable car · ski school meeting point at the top of the Eiger Express cable car · 1 minute’s walk to ski bus stop · 5 minutes’ bus ride to the Bodmi nursery slopes and First Gondola
The Konzett family have run the Kreuz and Post for generations, so it fits the bill if you want somewhere with that authentic Swiss feel. The traditional theme continues on the food front – think local ingredients and regional recipes. And rounding things off in the looks department, you’ve got plenty of natural wood from top to bottom.
As for hitting the slopes, you can hop on the ski bus that stops outside to get to Grindelwald’s First Gondola in around five minutes. Or head over the road to the station for trains to the Eiger Express lift and even more kilometres of piste, not to mention the ski school meeting point at Kleiner Scheidegg.
When it comes to après time, try the snug Apéro Bar, where you can pick classic records to play on a retro jukebox. Then swap rock icons for an iconic bit of rock and head to the rooftop terrace for knockout views of the Eiger mountain. You’ll also find the hotel wellness on the top floor, with its duo of saunas, steam room and menu of massages.

•Classic ski destination •Exciting excursions •Linked to the Jungfrau ski area
Grindelwald is a truly classic ski destination. Not only is the resort’s amazing cog-railway system one of the world’s first ski lifts, but the town is also famous as the base for the many daring attempts on the Eiger north face. Today it still draws visitors with its gorgeous scenery, excellent skiing and attractive town centre.
