Italian mountain hotels don’t get more traditional than the Cà Fiore. This cosy place is all wooden beams and tiled floors, and it’s a couple of minutes’ walk from the lifts and nursery slopes in the Campo Smith area of town.
When you get back from skiing, pop into the bar for an après drink. And if the sun’s out, sit on the terrace to soak up some rays. Or you can head down to the little spa area instead, to spend some time in the hot tub or sauna.
Then it’s time for dinner – take a seat by the fireplace in the restaurant and get ready to tuck into three courses of authentic Italian cooking.

•Superb snowparks •Own rail station •Bordering France
Once a market town and now a trendy snowsports destination, Bardo has lovely forest trails, loads of wide, unpopulated slopes for learners and intermediates and snowboard terrain that featured in the 2006 Olympics. Eating out doesn’t have the eye-watering pricetag of other resorts and with superb transport links and a sunny location, this is one of Italy’s top resorts.
