It’s cheap and cheerful, definitely at the bargain end of the market so we didn’t have high expectations. We were a group of 20 somethings and for us it was basic... The food wasn’t amazing but you get what you pay for, and it’s so cheap to eat out anyway. This package holiday to Hotel Breza in Borovets, Bulgaria departs Saturday 7th January 2017, for a 7 night stay on a "half board" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

Do you dream of skiing down the same mountains where Bulgarian Kings of old once hunted? Oh, right. Just us then. Well how about a ski holiday at a snip of the price you’d pay in France or Switzerland, with exhilarating views, booming après ski and large doses of sunshine? That’s more like it. Here in Borovets you’ll experience a resort steeped in tradition and culture, and of course the fantastic skiing opportunities you’d expect to find at Bulgaria’s 1st ski region. In the charming village centre yo...
Young skiers will love Borokids Park, where the magic carpet, carousel can help them get to grips with the snow. The message to beginners from the lovely people at Borovets’ Chili Peppers bar is ‘more beer = less fear!’ however we’d highly advise against skiing under the influence, and instead suggest lessons with one of the local ski schools like Hunters and Yanakiev and the Sitnyakovo Royal Residence Ski Way’s wide, gentle slope for some cruisey confidence building. Each of the 3 ski areas offer int...
In spite of Bansko’s up and coming popularity, Borovets remains the party capital of Bulgarian ski resorts, with vibrant nightlife guaranteed as soon as you’re off the slopes. The ever friendly bar hosts at places like Bobby’s and Samokov offer unbelievably cheap local beer, and once the Bulgarian Rakia shots start flowing, you’ll understand why people are back in Borovets year after year. However, in spite of the après ski festivities, Borovets is far from just another ‘lads holiday’ ski destination. I...

"Cheep and cheerful in a good location"

Dave, Bristol
3/ out of 5
It’s cheap and cheerful, definitely at the bargain end of the market so we didn’t have high expectations. We were really close to the gondola that goes up to the top and to get to the chairlift wasn’t very far, only about 5 minutes. The hire shops would take all skis and boots at the end of the day if you wanted them to, so you didn’t have to trudge through town with boots. The food wasn’t great - a bit samey, lukewarm and not much but warm stew if you’re a vegetarian. We went out to a few local restaurants which were good and the food on the slopes was great (and obviously dead cheap compared to France). The people who worked there were friendly enough, we had quite a few kids in the party and the staff didn’t make a fuss about them coming and going. The rooms were fine and we had no trouble with noise. Everything was clean and worked as it should and the beds and showers were fine.

"Basic accommodation but we all had a great week"

We were a group of 20 somethings and for us it was basic... The food wasn’t amazing but you get what you pay for, and it’s so cheap to eat out anyway. The hotel is right in the centre, really close to the ski lifts (a 5 minute walk) so you’re in a brilliant location. The rooms are totally basic but warm and comfortable. The decor is a bit dated but everything works, the showers were all good. The ski place was fine and you could get massages if you wanted to book them. There was also a little bar and you’re right opposite one of the main bars in the resort.
