The Hotel Bären, nestled in the village of Wilderswil near Interlaken, is a charming slice of Swiss history, dating back nearly 300 years. Originally a tavern for travellers, it now welcomes guests with its cream walls, green shutters and a bear statue that’s a nod to its name.
Step inside and you'll be wrapped in traditional Swiss hospitality. Wood-panelled walls and ceilings create a homely atmosphere, complemented by traditional wooden furniture and soft beiges, creams, and check fabrics. The Bärenstübli restaurant serves up regional dishes made with fresh, local products – including their very own cheese, made with milk from their cows.
When it’s ski time, the ski bus leaves from right outside the hotel each morning and drops you at the Eiger Express lift in Grindelwald for days swooshing the Jungfrau ski area. Or, you can hop on the train for a 25-minute scenic ride to the slopes.
