· ski-in, ski-out at the foot of Blackcomb Mountain · high-speed gondola starts at the hotel · 10 minutes' walk to the centre of Whistler village · free shuttle bus to Whistler village · 1 minute's walk to the ski school meeting point
Sitting at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler is one of the most prestigious luxury hotels in the resort, known particularly for its great service and fantastic facilities. Step outside and you're already on the slopes, just moments from the lift. And it's a short walk through the trees and across a stream to the centre of the village, with all its bars, restaurants and shops. There's also a free shuttle bus that will take you there too.
The huge lobby welcomes you in, with its plush sofas, high ceilings and open-plan bar and lounge area. There're knockout views at every turn – the Mallard Lounge takes centre stage, with its seasonal cocktail creations and daily live entertainment. Opposite here is The Grill Room serving some of the best steaks you'll find in British Colombia, or book a table at The Wildflower for brunch or dinner that looks almost too good to eat. For something sweet, Portobello downstairs is famous for its maple bacon donuts and delicious pastries, or you can head outside and enjoy s'mores next to the fire pits with a big mountain backdrop.
The hotel also houses a parade of gift and clothes shops and a sleek spa with two outdoor pools, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms and a large fitness room with both cardio and weighted equipment. If you head down a couple of floors you'll find the Whistler Experience Guide who offers daily excursions like snowshoeing and mountain tours. Wrapping things up are spacious bedrooms, done up with a cool grey colour scheme and squishy king and queen-size beds.
Please note: Just so you're aware, there's a separate section of this hotel called the Fairmont Chateau Whistler – Fairmont Gold. Please check that the one you've selected is where you intend to stay.
