Location: where is Chalet Aconcagua

What better way to stay in one of the very best ski areas in the world than in a sophisticated chalet overlooking this historic village, yet just minutes away from the lifts and centre of Zermatt.

Chalets of this exceptional quality in such a location are a rare find. Perfectly located in the quieter Obri Steinmatte area of this historic car-free resort, the village centre is a mere 8 minute (approx.) stroll and with the bus stop in front of the building, the Matterhorn Express is just 9 minutes (approx.) away. Your boots will still be warm from the heated boot racks as you climb into the cable car...

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Aconcagua description

Flawless design and impeccable style have come together to produce these exceptional chalet apartments housed within the Fitzroy building. Sleek and understated decor flows seamlessly throughout, yet carefully picked alpine features add a warming, Swiss touch. The elegant open-plan living and dining areas boast flat screen TVs, DVD players and contemporary wood-burning stoves. High ceilings and floor to ceiling windows add light and space, while the beautiful views of Zermatt Village entice you out onto the balcony for the full mountain effect. All bedrooms follow the impeccable Fitzroy style and come complete with built-in wardrobes, iPod docks and immaculately finished bathrooms.

Yet it is not just their convenient location that makes these chalets exceptional; their intelligent design even allows for the preservation of the delicate mountain environment with geothermal heating and state of the art techniques in place to reduce their carbon foot print. Chalet Aconcagua is on the first floor, while Chalet Potosi is on the second, but as you would expect from a building of this quality, all the chalets are served by a lift. Ski lockers and heated boot racks await you on the ground floor. One day all chalets will be built like this. For the moment though, you will have to make do with these.

Large parties can take over two or three of the Fitzroy chalets. Please call for more information.

Zermatt belongs to Switzerland's Valais canton, which rubs shoulders with the Italian Alps. You'll find it surrounded by nearly a third of Europe's 4000m peaks and, most notably, right at the foot of the Matterhorn. Even if you haven't heard of this mountain, chances are you'd recognise it - national landmark of Switzerland, the inspiration for the Toblerone and a peak photographed more than any other. Besides the picturesque scenery, these mighty mountains come with a cool climate, ever-white glaciers and ...
There are 200km of runs in the local area alone and a massive 360km overall if you count the Matterhorn's Italian side. With Cervina, Zermatt forms the 'Matterhorn Ski Paradise' where SNO lovers of all abilities are blessed with high altitude terrain - and lots of it! Everyone's a winner in a ski area this big and brilliant. Still, if we had to pick where it shines, we'd say it's incredibly fantastic for intermediate and advanced level skiers and snowboarders. If you're a keen beginner, you'll love Zermatt,...
Zermatt has voted the world's best après ski resort by the World Snow Awards in the past, making it a wise choice if you want a whale of a time post-skiing. Sure – it doesn't come cheap, but you won't find better if you want quality. Across sixty bars and numerous nightclubs, you can relax, unwind and party through the night. Harry's Bar is the place to dance to cheesy pop and Papperla offers a pubby atmosphere, but you can't come to Zermatt without being tempted into the Hennu Stall (at the end of the Furi-Ze...
