With over 200 hours of sunshine a year, the north and east coasts tend to experience more rainfall, while the south and west coasts are generally drier. Hawaii has two distinct seasons: the dry season, from April to September, with minimal rainfall, and the wet season, from November to March. Showers are frequent during the wet season, but often brief, followed by a ray of sunshine and perhaps a rainbow or two - the state is even known as the rainbow capital of the world!

Seasonality in Hawaii

Hawaii enjoys abundant sunshine throughout the year, attracting tourists to its shores whatever the season. Although weather conditions differ slightly by island and altitude, Hawaii generally maintains warm temperatures throughout the year. The tourism industry remains robust throughout the year, with peak visitor numbers corresponding to the festive season (Christmas and New Year) and the European summer holidays (July and August).

Peak season in Hawaii

Hawaii's peak season coincides with the winter season, which runs from December to March, and the summer season, from June to August. During the peak of the winter season, you can expect some rainfall and pleasant warmth reaching average temperatures of 25°C, with plenty of sunshine for sunbathing and swimming. The summer months, from June to August, are very popular with families, so it is advisable to book in advance. Prices are also a little higher, as everyone wants a slice of the Hawaiian action during this period!

Low season in Hawaii

The low season in Hawaii is the shoulder season. It runs from April to mid-June, then picks up again in September and October. Although it's still undeniably hot, the trade winds make for a comfortable stay. The rainy season begins in November and ends in March, but generally, when it rains in one place, the sun shines in the sky just down the coast!
